Default My Story

My 1 year in OA is fast approaching and thus I have been feeling reflective. Pictures I carry with me from over a year ago show someone who was dying from her desease. My face is so fat and distended I can barely recognize who I am.
I don't weigh my self but I am down from a size 26 to an 18/20.

When I was in the food I ate so much I would literally pass out. I would worry sometimes I would be found dead with a blood sugar too high to sustain life, however after that moment passed I would look for more food. The next day I would be so hung over, sick to my stomach and ashamed. I wished I would die and new I was killing myself but did not know how to stop.

I saw a phone number in our church bulliten for OA and remembered I went to OA over 20 years ago and maybe I should go back, nothing else was working.

After my first meeting I knew I was home and now I am enjoying so many of "The Promises" from the Big Book. I am getting my life back. The isolation is over, the lying is over, the anger is over. Those are some of my character defects my Higher Power has removed.

Thanks for listening...It works if ya work it!
Hugs,
Magic Flute

That's AWESOME! You have lost a LOT, size-wise! My high weight was 230 and I'm still not too far from it, but I can understand your feelings at your high weight. It's sad and scary.

You are doing FABULOUS though! You are a stronger, more powerful woman for doing this and it looks like you are definitely on the road to success. Here's to health, mental, physical, emotional, spiritual.. You're touching all the bases!

Thank you so much for sharing your ESH. It is truly both inspirational and motivational. And remember, you have to give it away to keep it!

Congrats on your one year OA B-Day.

Keep on keeping on.

Thank you so much for your story. It is such an inspiration to hear where people have been, and where they are now.
