Default `No OA meetings in your area try this

I'm one of those that doesn't have an OA meeting in my area and I took the suggestion of a friend and went to an AA meeting and asked for help. Now the one I went to was all MEN! Of course, I about backed out the door but something pushed me into the room.

I was totally accepted by all and they all said you want help we are here for you no matter what your addiction. Now I'm realistic and know that that might not happen in every AA meeting but it's worth a try.

I also attend some of the OA meetings on line and they help too but I find the face to face contact is best for me.

Just a thought and if it helps one person receive help I'm glad I shared it.

Thanks Pat-

I've been to AA meetings that happened to have only men that day, and they have been welcoming. If anything, I think they were on their best behavior. Ha!

That's a great idea! I have one fairly close to me, I'm just not very fond of the people there.

Smile Great Idea Patd!

When I moved from a large metropolitan area to a small town for six years and I wanted to continue with my 12 step work, I went to a meeting of people who had family members who were alcoholics. I grew very close to those women during that time although I did mention to the general meeting leader that having leftover donuts on the tables was not a good idea for those of us who had those as trigger foods.

What is one person's meat is another person's poison!
