Mars, thanks, lol! Santa did good this year! This little furry elf brings me lots of joy! :D I'd love to stay in the 160's and I do think I might get to that point eventually. (I hope!) :crossed: Happy Holidays to you too! :coolsnow:

Trish, thanks! He's a sweetie! :) That's good food for thought on the simple carbs! :chin: Yikes on that plumbing bill! Thanks for spreading the word that noodles and rice shouldn't go down the disposal! There should be a little fanfare for your drop! This is a difficult time of year not to gain, so yay on going down 1.2 lbs again rather than up another 1.2 lbs! The best part of all is you're staying mindful and that's going to get you to where you want to be in the long run! :carrot:

PrairieQueen, yay on another positive update! Oh, he's feisty! That has to be a good sign!

Carol Sue, thanks! :D I hope your step-daughter's kitties stay out of the tree, lol! It is really cute but it's also a worry! Considering what dogs use trees for (pee post, back scratcher), it's a good thing Rusty ignores yours, haha!

SeeMyFeet, I hope you're well!

Not a bad jump up for me today, just back to 170. My body really likes that number!

Bro update: He failed his swallow test, so feeding tube has to stay in a few more days......he is not happy. Baby steps.....

Today's menu...

Break - leftover chicken fajita
Lunch - homemade tomato soup (from freezer) and oyster crackers
Dinner - leftover breakfast stack and fajita filling

Leftover days are common here when there's no company to help eat up the meals. Good part I don't have to do any real cooking until Christmas Eve.

Jacqui_D 12-21-2015 09:03 PM

PrairieQueen, he'll get there! Considering all he's been through, that's minor, but I hope the tube comes out sooner rather than later so he'll be more comfortable! :crossed: I eat leftovers quite a bit. Sometimes things are even better the 2nd time around!

I was just looking at my progress on this time's Slow Carb Diet journey compared to last time's. Last time, I lasted 7 months, 6 days. This time, I've been at it 7 months, 18 days so far. Last time, I got down to 168 but then bounced back up and stayed around 173. This time, my low has been 169 and I'm hanging out pretty steadily at 170. Last time, I was struggling to stay on plan near the end and started losing interest in coming to 3FC everyday. This time, I don't feel like I'm struggling at all, and although the holidays may be keeping me busy, I look forward to coming here each day! I feel like I'm still going strong, happy I'm on this plan and motivated to stick with it, whether I lose any more weight or not! I'd say that's progress! :carrot:

Jacqui_D 12-22-2015 11:13 AM

I'm so excited! I got an unexpected Christmas present from my scale today! :present: I weigh 167.5! :yay: I had so hoped to surpass my low weight from last time, and I did it! :woohoo: I was not expecting that at all this morning! In fact (and this is TMI), before I stepped on the scale, I was just thinking how I wished I could go to the bathroom first (but no luck), so I was SO surprised to see that low number! I got on the scale 3 times just to be sure it wasn't a fluke! There really is a Santa Claus! :hohoho: Lol!

Edited to add: I've thought all along that if I could get below my low weight from last time I would remove my old ticker, which I was using as motivation. Instead, I think I'm going to change it to a "Bonus Goal" ticker. So if I actually make it to 164, I'll keep myself in the game mentally by having another goal on hand to strive toward. Besides, I really like the colors of my pink and green tickers together and don't want to delete it, haha!

Jacqui, good for you for surpassing your previous low! You go girl!

PQ maybe brother's feeding tube will come out in time for him to eat something for Christmas. Not a ham sandwich, mind you, but something!! I'm just glad he's feeling well enough to get upset about the tube!

PrairieQueen 12-22-2015 01:53 PM

Jacqui excellent! It has only happened to me a few times, but I know how great it feels.

Carol I thought the same thing. If he's able to get upset or agitated, then he's getting "with the program." Since things have started to improve, my mom has been calling the hospital late morning and not going over until after their early dinner. She sends me a report/pic/FT when she gets there. My kids are hoping he's able to FaceTime a little on Christmas Eve.

I was so worried about getting stuff done this morning before the last shopping adventure and lunch with hubs, I didn't remember to weigh before I started swallowing down the H2O. So I just skipped it...I still feel puffy anyway. I skipped breakfast to save calories for my lunch out AND hubs still wants to go out tonight for dinner! At least we're going later than usual and I am always box up some of my wings). I'm never going to lose that last 0.8 lb before Friday at this rate.

PrairieQueen 12-23-2015 06:52 AM

Bro had a bronchoscopy scheduled for early evening yesterday. He's too weak to cough everything up out of his lungs. (If that doesn't put you off the snack you were about to have, I don't what will!)

Yesterday's menu....

Lunchfast - small Philly cheesesteak and fries
Dinner - grilled wings w/blue cheese dressing

I'm still up 0.4 lbs from the weekend. I'm sure all the potatoes I've been having doesn't help. Must drink more water and avoid those taters!

pattygirl63 12-23-2015 12:53 PM

Still around just lurking. Busy day. DH birthday is tomorrow so taking him out to eat at Olive Garden today so will be a carb meal. We usually go out for steak for our birthdays and anniversary. We do his on the 23rd because so many people eat out on Christmas eve, but his DD sent us a nice Christmas gift of steaks and other items from Omaha Steaks. We got them last night and there is enough for 4 meals including baked potatoes and tarts for dessert. He decided to not go out for steaks today, but have one of the steak dinners Christmas day. Strange thing is we couldn't decide we wanted to have for our Christmas dinner this year since it is just the 2 of us this year. We have no family here and we are all scattered. So looks like it was taken care of for us. A nice blessing. Hopefully next year we will be living in TX and have our holidays with my family there.

Jacqui CONGRATULATIONS on 167.5 surprise :cp: Nice Christmas gift. :)

P.Q., SMF, CAROL SUE, RENNIE AND EVERYBODY

Merry Christmas.

Wannabehealthy 12-23-2015 02:20 PM

PQ I had forgotten about coughing up all the junk after heart surgery until you mentioned it. Thanks for reminding me. LOL One time I felt like I coughed up a baby bird.

Trish, I think you came up with a great idea for Christmas dinner since it's just the two of you. I think we are going to have steak on Christmas Eve. We would go out, but around here, many of the restaurants are closing early on Christmas Eve.

PrairieQueen 12-23-2015 07:21 PM

I keep forgetting to tell everyone "Thank you!" for all of your prayers and positive vibes sent to my brother. It still seems so surreal to me. Things are still going well. He's speaking (but mom says he still comes out with some crazy statement or question once in awhile). I tol her it's normal, and it could take months for the delirium to pass. We're Facetiming tomorrow when my kids are here. And I've tentatively scheduled two trips to Florida to help my mom, February and spring break.

Carol Sue did you have a valve replaced? I've read in some of your posts about your cardiologist and such. Sorry for not asking about it earlier....I was so wrapped up in my own drama, but I'm "here" now.

Carol Sue, Wannabe, Jacqui, Pattygirl, SMF, Mars and anyone else I may have forgotten, a big Christmas hug early.

Today's menu....

Break - last of fajita filling (finally) and Coke Life
Lunch - tomato soup and crackers
Snack - skinny popcorn
Dinner - mushroom-lemon chicken and angel hair pasta (my favorite)

Wannabehealthy 12-23-2015 07:41 PM

I just made ladylocks. They turned out terrible. I don't know what I did wrong. I haven't made them for 10-15 years but I used the same recipe. It seemed like I put too much Crisco in the dough, and the filling was really runny. I think when I made them before we were still using whole milk. I think I should not have used skim milk for the filling. I put them in the freezer with the other cookies. Sometimes my cookies taste better after they have been frozen, so maybe they will be OK or maybe no one will notice. DH says they're fine, but you could put sugar on anything and he'd eat it. Well, just about anything. LOL

PQ, I had 4 blocked arteries and had open-heart surgery in 2008. I have 2 valves that are leaking, but they are not bad enough yet to need to be replaced, and may never be bad enough. They said I am better off to have my own valves as long as I can. I get them checked once a year, and my cardiologist said they might start checking them twice a year. If I get fatigue and shortness of breath, dizziness, that's a sign that they need replaced. I was having dizziness recently, but they did an Echocardiogram and there has been no change to the valves. I think the dizziness was due to nasal allergies, and it's been gone for a few weeks. No more dizzy dame.

Jacqui_D 12-24-2015 02:59 PM

PrairieQueen, I'm glad your brother is still doing well! :woohoo:

Trish, Happy Birthday to your DH! :hb:

Carol Sue, I bet your DH is right and everyone will love your ladylocks!

The 160's are sticking for me so far! I weighed 167.5 again yesterday and after eating at Olive Garden last night, I still weighed 168 today! :cp: I've had so many blessings this year and I count all of you ladies on this thread among them! Thank you all for helping me along on this weight loss journey! :grouphug:

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE!!! :santa::stardav::tree:

Blessed2BeeAlive 12-24-2015 03:08 PM

Not sure who called it Food Porn? I suppose it is pretty close to what it is, I think of it as Toxic Food: my body, just rejects certain foods. I've been on the Wheat Belly diet & it is where I lost my 1st 20 lbs, & then didn't loose anymore weight. I'm thinking I will have to alter my diet.

Wannabehealthy 12-24-2015 05:42 PM

Hi Blessed2BeeAlive! We all hit a cog in the wheel eventually and have to adjust what we're doing.

Jacqui, you went to Olive Garden too. Did you see Trish there? Oh, yea, probably not the same location. LOL We haven't been t Olive Garden in years because it's all pasta pretty much. I like it, but my blood glucose doesn't.

Happy Holidays to All.

PrairieQueen 12-24-2015 11:05 PM

Facetimed with bro tonight! He Can speak okay but raspy and still weak. He's up to his old self expression wise.....I was so worried he might some type of cognitive/brain damage. But so far he seems "normal" except for drug-related stuff. He'll be transferred to rehab as soon as he can eat and drink on his own....week or two.

Kids left about an hour ago and I'm pooped. Great night but I over indulged. Back on plan tomorrow :)

Today's menu...

Lunch fast - leftover lemon/mushroom chicken and pasta
Dinner - barbq pork, ham, Mac & cheese, green beans, cole slaw
Drinks - 2 lite beers and two skinny margaritas

I am so full!

Merry Christmas!

PrairieQueen 12-25-2015 06:04 PM

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas with family and friends. It was quiet here, since we did ours last night. I'm still in my PJs....been Watching TV, getting my new Fitbit set up and cleaning up. I'm going to make myself go up and tKe a shower soon :)

Today's menu....

Breakfast - pasta w/ mushroom-lemon sauce
Lunch - homemade deviled ham on crackers
Dinner - Mac and cheese
Snack - guacamole and sweet potato chips

High carb day but calories in check.

SeeMyFeet 12-26-2015 12:38 PM

Congrats on the WL surprise, Jac. Wonderful to hear about the progress with your DB, PQ. And congrats to everyone with the maintaining.

I've been home for a few days, but haven't felt like chirping in here. Still feeling gutted and having difficulty going about "normal" things. I'm feeling so guilty thinking about setting goals, and I have this overwhelming urge to purge everything from my house and organize. Torn between preparing for the inevitable versus living life, I guess. I have not exercised for the past few weeks, and until a few days ago, was not eating much of anything. Of course, I have not lost any weight. Ugh. Annnnd TOM appeared, which was a bit surprising. And annoying. And exhausting.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts, and don't worry...I'll work my way through this. I'm surrounded by my kids and that helps a lot.

PrairieQueen 12-26-2015 07:34 PM

Hope everyone is starting to recover from the Christmas "extras" and getting back on plan. I'm trying...

Got a Fitbit from DD and I love it. She is such a great supporter and cheerleader. we both have them now, and she has already invited me to my first challenge. My new "thing" is to do our stairs at least 2x whenever we're watching live TV and there's a commercial break.

Today's menu.....

Lunchfast - homemade deviled ham and whole wheat crackers
Snack - sauerkraut
Dinner - Donatos mozzarella trio pizza and a lite beer

Jacqui_D 12-26-2015 08:57 PM

SeeMyFeet, so good to hear from you! Odd that you should mention purging. That's how I felt after losing my brother. In fact, I have "organized" quite a few areas of things I didn't think I'd ever get rid of and taken them to auction. I'm slowing down, but even today I went through a cabinet and picked out items to get rid of. We all grieve in our own way I guess. I'm glad you have your kids to help you get through this, and I have no doubt you'll be all right.

PrairieQueen, yay on the Fitbit! How fun that you have your DD supporting you! Great job jumping back on plan! :carrot: I'm so glad your brother is progressing well! :cp:

Carol Sue, yep, I was at Olive Garden too but no Trish, lol! I stayed away from the pasta but it wasn't easy! I had citrus chicken and sauteed vegetables. :hungry:

Blessed2BeeAlive, the good news is that no plan is set in stone, so it can be altered. Do what works best for you and don't give up!

So on Thursday I weighed 168. Yesterday, I didn't weigh. Today I weigh 171.5, which I think is a great after-Christmas-Day weigh-in! :dancer: I'm wondering if the scale will go down any as long as I'm eating leftover ham with all its sodium, but we'll see! :D And I really need to start walking again. :running:

Wannabehealthy 12-27-2015 08:50 AM

I did so well with my eating on Christmas day. Since I was hosting I was too stressed out to think about eating, but I sure made up for it yesterday. My step-daughter was coming over to take the leftovers, so I had to try a little bit of everything before it left the building. LOL Then we went to the casino and ate the buffet. I wasn't hungry but ate anyway. Now today, I have to get down to business. I am still in Onederland, so I'm happy about that, but need to get back to exercising and get a bit more weight off. It's time.

I'm so glad I have my own exercise equipment at home because the gyms are going to be jammed with the first of the year exercisers.

Jacqui, I didn't bring the ladylocks out til after dinner. I explained that they didn't turn out right while they were shoving them into their mouths! LOL Everyone loved them and took some home, but they were still a little bit frozen so the filling hadn't started running out yet.

Your after-Christmas weight is good. My step-daughter took our leftover ham as neither DH nor I need the sodium. BP issue. I was surprised that the turkey was all gone. I would have liked to have that leftover for us. I have a turkey thigh in the freezer and will probably buy a breast and cook them together for DH and I. We really like our leftover turkey, with Campbells Cream Of Mushroom soup poured over it.

Good to see you here SeeMyFeet. Hope you are feeling better, and remembering the happy times you had with your brother. Nothing can ever take away your memories. {{{{hugs}}}}

PrairieQueen, Yay on the Fitbit. I love mine. My friend lives in a 3 story townhouse so she gets in lots of flights of stairs. I don't do anything out of the ordinary to effect my numbers. In fact, I forget that I have it on. I don't set any records but just like to be able to see how some days I'm much more active and some days I'm practically comatose. LOL

Looking forward to hearing from Mars, Rennie, Trish. Hoping that Chickadeee and Bewildered will come back in 2016. I hope they're OK.

Jacqui_D 12-27-2015 01:02 PM

Carol Sue, yay on still being in Onederland after Christmas! That's excellent! :trampo: I hadn't thought about the New Year's Resolution crowd at the gym, but you're right! I knew your ladylocks would be a hit! (We are always our own worst critics.) :D Our turkey is gone too. I also wish that is what was left over. I think next year I'll have to get a smaller ham and and a larger turkey. I wasn't very fond of our ham this year. We got a Honeybaked ham, as always, but it was really fatty this year. I wasn't happy with it. :dunno:

Yikes! Not only did I eat leftover ham with all its sodium for lunch and dinner yesterday, but I didn't drink enough water and for some dumb reason, I decided to eat salted mixed nuts before bed last night (probably because they are in the house)! The scale was not happy with me this morning, haha! :nono: I jumped up another 1.5 lbs! So today I'm avoiding ham and nuts and I'm trying to drink more water.

Jacqui and Carol Sue Congratulations on not gaining. I honestly think we have actually done very well over all. I think it makes it easy to stay OP now.

SMF  I can't really say anything that is "really" helps right now. I pray you will find peace and comfort as your heart heals. Doesn't feel like it will ever heal right now, but I pray the happy memories will over power the hurt. Grieving is a personal thing and you have to walk through it (as my Daddy always said after Mama passed away when people asked how he did it, his answer was "I didn't have a choice".) I'm so glad you have your family to help you through this. Prayers continue for you.

I'm happy to say that I didn't gain any weight during my many off days. I'm right with the ticker, but I just noticed that according to the profile on the side, I am actually down .4 lbs. How about that. Whew, I'm just glad that the ticker is right.

I don't remember if I shared that DH DD sent us Omaha Steak seats w/baked potatoes and tarts. So we had a salad, steak, baked potato and broccoli for Christmas dinner. DH had one of the tarts (I don't care for them) and I had one of the cheesecakes I had bought. I bought the Edwards 2 serving so that I wouldn't have a whole cheesecake calling my name. I ate the other one yesterday so that is gone. However, we have had some other goodies around and all but one of those are gone and I think I'm going to ditch it so I won't have anything around to yell my name. LOL

I'm back OP this morning. I found a CAD group on FB. I must have joined it sometime in the past, but didn't remember it. I knew 1 of the ladies on there from another CAD group I used to frequent. She has reached one of her goals of being under 300 lbs and shared how she followed the old CAD book plan. I have always liked the old CAD plan and did pretty well on it, but I never could really get with the new plans. I think it is because they suggested cutting out so many things like sweetners etc. But this lady has done well by staying with the original plan.

I never had a problem with the original plan because it actually fits my lifestyle especially after marrying DH. So I am going to give it a go again. I will just have what they call a reward meal once a day, I call it a carby meal. However, for those who don't know what CAD means... you have to eat your carby meal within 60 minutes so that you don't get second insulin surge. All other meals/snacks are low carb. You can choose to have 1 to 3 meals and 1 to 3 snacks depending on what fits you, but only 1 meal or snack can have carby foods in it. Sounds very doable. And I think I will do better with that if it works for me instead of having a carby day.

I have my plan and I started todays with a Bullet coffee made whey powder. Sundays are breakfast for lunch. So that will be my carby meal. Not sure about tonight, I may just have another whey shake or a low carb snack.

Does anyone use Jennie O products. I was wanting turkey ham and I was so excited that I found it made by Jennie O and was using it for a snack with veggies at night, but the ladies at the beauty salon told me not to eat it because it has a lot of stuff not good for you too processed. How do y'all handle those things. Any way, I was disappointed because it doesn't have as much sodium as most ham has. Holding off on buying any more.

P.Q., Rennie, Mars and everyone else

Jacqui I was looking at the wrong numbers for you, but that is a water weight gain, not an actual gain. You will get that flushed out today with the water you are drinking.

Carol Sue I forgot about your ladylocks. I looked those up as I didn't know what they were. They look like a lot of work. I see them here at Food Lion and they look so good, but I wouldn't buy them. I don't need something else like that to call my name. LOL Don't you love it when something you think is a flop becomes something everyone loves?

Jacqui_D 12-27-2015 05:25 PM

Trish, I hope I do lose it quickly! :crossed: Congrats on being down .4! :cp: It sounds like you had a yummy Christmas dinner! :hungry: We have so many sweets left over and I'll have some on my Carb Day, but DH has a sweet tooth so he's eating most of it in the meanwhile. Oh, but it's hard seeing it every day! The thing that keeps me away from it is knowing my all-or-nothing mentality and my past history of failure because of that mentality. I can't allow myself to fall into that same old trap of thinking, "One little piece won't hurt," because yes, it will! :nono: I hope the old CAD plan works for you! I definitely believe doing what fits your lifestyle and the way you KNOW you will and won't eat is best! I sometimes eat Jennie O turkey. In fact, my Christmas dinner turkey is always Jennie O. I haven't heard bad things about it, but I imagine we could find bad things about any supermarket food that wasn't completely organic and free-range if we looked for it. :dunno: I'm happy with Jennie O and I'm definitely not going to be switching any time soon! (Besides, I drink Diet Dr. Pepper. When it comes to processed things, it doesn't get much worse than that, haha!) :D

PrairieQueen 12-27-2015 07:31 PM

Evening all! Day 2 with my Fitbit and it's great! It's really keeping me on track because I've decided to log every little calorie instead of just breakfast or some days breakfast and lunch. I've been logging my water as well.

SMF glad to see you on here. I can't imagine being in your place. I hope that you have peace with your new normal soon.

Today's menu...

Lunchfast - homemade sausage burrito, unsweetened tea w/stevia
Snack - skinny popcorn
Dinner - steak sandwich w/cheese (homemade hoagie buns)

I've been skipping breakfast a lot on my break, because I haven't been as active as I normally am during the work week. Nor have I been able to get outside and do anything....it's been raining on and off since last weekend.

pattygirl63 12-27-2015 08:18 PM

Jacqui Thanks for the feedback on the Jennie O. I do like it and it makes it so much easier to eat my low carb evening meal which probably could be called a snack rather than a meal. I'm going to get some more of it tomorrow. I had the last of what I had tonight along with what I call a finger salad (a term from my Overeaters Anonymous days). A finger salad (for those who haven't heard of it) is just raw veggies you eat without cutting into a salad example celery sticks, carrot sticks, cuke sticks etc. It is really nice for a quick snack.

I actually do my own style of CAD because I allow some veggies not allowed on the plan because they fit my lifestyle and having them keep me OP. Example, I use some of the veggies not allowed for the non carby meals or snacks such as the raw carrot and small tomatoes which I had along with celery and the turkey ham for my snack tonight. I don't think of them as starchy veggies.

P.Q. I haven't been journaling my food on MFP since Christmas day, but will start doing that again tomorrow. I just think I need to do that for a while to be sure I don't overdo anything crazy as I get back OP and although I'm using the CAD style of eating, I still want to keep my carbs/calories in check. I need to see how I'm doing and I want to cut the sodium back some on my plan. So I think it is good to keep track of what we are doing.

I've got one day down so see y'all tomorrow.

Wannabehealthy 12-28-2015 11:17 AM

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I tried Jenny O turkey once and didn't like it. We don't do bacon much so never tried the bacon. Also, I rarely eat raw vegetables. Celery sticks are an exception as I've found them recently. Celery is good for lowering blood pressure.

I mentioned on the Diabetes thread that I found out my kidney function is out of whack and online it says to cut back on protein. So I will cut back on protein for my kidneys, cut back on carbs for my blood glucose, and there's not much left to eat. LOL I could try to eat lots of vegetables and salads until the next time it gets checked and see if it improves. I know that diabetes does a job on the kidneys, so that could be causing it, too. I have enough problems and don't want to lose kidney function on top of everything else. It's **** to get old. LOL

PrairieQueen, are you tracking your food on the Fitbit Dashboard? I have never done any of that other stuff on there. I guess I should be taking advantage of all it offers.

Trish, the ladylocks were definately a flop. I used to make them all the time years ago and they turned out great. I think I put too much Crisco in the shells, as they are greasy and the filling is runny. When they were eating them on Christmas I had just taken them out of the freezer and they were firm because they were frozen. I told them once they took them home and they defrosted they would see that they were not as they should be. Greasy and mushy. When I made them years ago we were still drinking whole milk and the filling was made with that. Now we use skim milk. I never gave it a thought, but I think that's why the filling didn't thicken up the way it's supposed to.

DH just found some $$$ I had hidden away. I'm in big trouble!! LOL

pattygirl63 12-28-2015 11:42 AM

A quick flyby to check in. Today is WI day and I was surprised with a 2.4 lb loss this week. :cheer2::cheer3: I am so excited and this proves to me that I can do this.

I don't think I'm changing to CAD although I am using some CAD type of plan my way that fits me. I am tracking my food on MFP and was surprised when I put my weight for today in that I had lost the 2.4. That gave me the boost that I needed to keep doing this. Already calculate todays food and carbs for today are in the 80 gram range and we are going to Golden Coral for lunch. MFP has the foods and the calories for GC and I have chosen in advance what I will be eating. My calories for today will be approx. 1300. Eating veggies helps a lot. Sodium always goes into red on MFP, but if I cut it back to far low carbing then I get leg cramps so I'll just be sure to drink plenty of water.

SeeMyFeet 12-28-2015 12:17 PM

I don't know CAD or Jenny O....Coronary Artery Disease?....bummer 'bout the kidneys WBH...high protein and high sugars are both bad for diabetes, especially when they're consumed together.

Whell...I swam the other day...picked up where I left off, which left me with the "RA flu"...guess I stirred up my joints too much. Didn't get any exercise yesterday, and not sure I will today, either. Getting back on some kind of schedule. Ugh. Just Ugh.

Annnnnd weight loss...boy, Howdy, this is tough. I still have a few days to think about New Year's Resolutions. I need a good plan that works. Suggestions? (At my weight, it really should not be this hard to lose.)

pattygirl63 12-28-2015 04:37 PM

SMF Jennie O is a brand of turkey ham. CAD is Carbohydrate Addict's Diet that was real poplular about 15 yrs ago.

Does swimming usually help your RA? Maybe you did too much and need to give your joints time to adjust and take it a little easier when you do it again. My beautician/friend goes to water aerobics and is always asking me to go with her. I would love to, but I told her I wasn't going to pay her to do my hair on Saturday and then get it wet and ruin my hairdo on Monday. LOL

You know you are going through some stress right now. I'm not giving you an excuse for anything, but you do have to be kind to yourself right now. Prayers continue coming your way.

PrairieQueen 12-28-2015 06:47 PM

Jacqui_D 12-28-2015 10:07 PM

PrairieQueen, I'm so glad the Fitbit is working well for you! :cb: You are doing a great job this month! :cp:

Trish, I've had "finger salads" like that before. I think the Jennie O would be a nice complement to it, although I've never had the turkey ham. I've only ever had the turkey.

Carol Sue, my step-mother doesn't like Jennie O either. I like it though, as do my DH and DKids, and apparently my DH's family who come to my house for Christmas like it, because we never have any leftovers, lol! :hungry: I am so sorry to hear about your kidneys! Definitely do everything you can to take care of them! My mom and brother both had to go on dialysis, and although they were both type 1, I think type 2's may be just as susceptible, and I would hate for you to have to go through that! What a slippery slope when it comes to finding the best foods for you to eat! I hope you figure out the perfect combination! :goodluck:

SeeMyFeet, uh-oh, you know the drill: Exercise is good for RA. Too much exercise is bad for RA! Just take it easy until you're feeling better and then go s-l-o-w-l-y. :snail:

Blessed2BeeAlive, you're so welcome! :D

Mars, we miss you!

Rennie, Chickadeee, Bewildered, I think coming back would be a GREAT New Year's Resolution! :grouphug:

Scale is going in the right direction again, so that's good! :carrot: I bought some more pumpkin seeds today, and hopefully I won't regret it! These are raw and unsalted, so I think they should make a good snack and "filler" for when I want a little something more. :crossed:

Carol

Yes,on the dashboard. I thought it would be a pain but I'm getting used to it. I try to keep track of calories of ingredients when I cook. If I'm in doubt, I overestimate the amount of calories instead of under.

Wannabehealthy 12-28-2015 10:24 PM

Jacqui, are you buying shelled pumpkin seeds or still in the shell? I don't like to eat the ones still in the shell since I had my colon surgery. I don't know if that would bother it or not. I bought some shelled. They get them in once in a while at Big Lots and when I see them I buy several bags. They are lightly salted. At Walmart I buy unsalted sunflower seeds, shelled, and I mix them together with the pumpkin seeds. I really like them.

SeeMyFeet, my biggest problem is bread and second is pasta. I KNOW I can't have them with my diabetes in any form and I can stay away from them for a long time. Then I slip up and take a taste and I'm off to the races. I am going to discuss the kidney issue with my doctor when I go next week. I just noticed yesterday that it showed up high on my blood work the past 2 times, but he never mentioned it. Maybe it's high, but not high enough to be a problem...yet. I just don't want it to become a problem and I need to start taking this more seriously.

SeeMyFeet 12-29-2015 12:34 AM

Yep, Carol Sue, you need to stay away from that bread and pasta. No doubt about it. Here's something to help.

Whell...I napped after work today. Prolly be awake all night now. I guess I needed the sleep, but honestly I'm having a hard time getting motivated to do everything I need to do. And I have a lot I would like to do. Like lose this weight.

Jacqui_D 12-29-2015 09:39 AM

Carol Sue, I bought shelled pumpkin seeds. I got them at Kroger. :T Please keep us posted on the kidneys issue!

SeeMyFeet, just take it one day, one step, one little bit at a time! There's no rush!

Yay! These pumpkins seeds seem to work much better for me than the roasted salted ones! I'm back down to 168.5 today and that is after having eaten some quite late! I don't know why I am getting hungry after dinner, but I think these seeds will work well for that, as long as I don't overdo it! :crossed:

EDITED TO ADD: How could I almost forget to tell you?! I'm wearing a size 10 jeans today! I'm so excited! I had one pair tucked away in my closet from the last time I got down to 168. (I think I wore them once or twice before I started regaining, lol!) I've battled the looseness of my size 12's the last few days, so I thought I'd give these a try this morning, and woohoo, they fit! :yay:

Jacqui_D :cheer3: 168.5 and in your size 10 jeans is a wonderful accomplishment. CONGRATULATIONS I have some beautiful clothes in my closet waiting for me to get back down so I can wear them. Some brand new. I am happy for you.

SMF Thinking of you today and pray you will have a good day.

We ate at Golden Coral yesterday and my weight is up the 2.4 lbs I lost. I think noticed on MFP that they must use a lot of salt because my sodium was over 1200 mg over the 2300 we are allowed to eat each day. Water, water, water today. It will be interesting as I log meals out on MFP to see how other restaurants do with the sodium. Sodium is the main reason I don't eat a lot of lowfat products.

SeeMyFeet 12-29-2015 10:37 AM

Poached eggs and coffee this morning. Poached with a bit of butter, made in a skillet, warm and moist, not in the microwave where they turn out too dry for my liking. Which is this morning's manifestation of a drastic turn toward as-low-carb-as-I-can-go mental attitude. Will the brain control the hand today?

The Joy of Size 10 post helps, Jaq. I'm finding it difficult to imagine progress, much less feeling joyful about progress. I prolly have some size 10s in the house somewhere...from a younger version of me. I should dig them out and hang up one for inspiration.

Hard and Fast goals for today: Lunch: salad (no fruit); Dinner: ??? No calories after 7pm....Get the exercise in, Take my vitamins, Get some housework in, and Early to bed.

Gotta figure out that dinner part. Another salad? Green beans and veggies? Guess I'm leaning toward a Goat Diet.

PrairieQueen 12-29-2015 11:04 AM

Way to go Jacqui! That is such a great feeling. I think I'm going to try those pumpkin seeds. We're going to a place called Jungle Jims today ....it's an international food market....and I plan on getting a few unique items in addition to the mandatory Britiish load up.

I had boxed up all my 10s last spring after giving up hope of ever wearing them again, but still had them in the barn. I had planned on a big yard sale this summer but it never happened (glad it didn't). I had only kept the good stuff (LL Bean, Ann Taylor, J. Crew), glad I did. I just bought three pair of size 8 jeans/cords on after-Xmas clearance at the outlets. Two fit just a little snug but still acceptable for public display and the third pair will have to wait until the end of January :)
