i'm not on a diet...or am i?

Or am I?

Mostly low carb.(i think i'm in the right forum)

Don't count calories.(works less and less as I get older)

Don't weigh and measure.(gets obsessive after a while)

Don't eat industrial food.(never touch the stuff any way)

Don't eat meal replacement products ( uber industrial)

Don't count carbs (reminds me of counting calories)

Don't count points (too much like counting calories)

Don't eat breakfast (read: intermittent fasting....seems to be working)

Very low carb lunch (a lot like Atkins induction)

Small servings of fruit, starch, and chocolate at dinner (not Atkins anymore)

Would be CAD ( but I sometimes go over an hour at my "reward meal" )

Would be keto (but I would have to up the fat macro a bit)

Would be Paleolithic (except I eat my burgers with low carb bread)

So what's left? I'm like a fat chick without a chicken coup...or am I? What if there was no diet? What if I could jumble it all up and throw it in the air and finally have something that works ? What if I wasn't hungry any more ? What if I could lift weights, and dance, and work in my garden and get strong and healthy? What if the pounds kept coming off ?
What if this .....was finally home?

that is about exactly how I am. I do not follow a prescribed diet. I do what works for me. It's part of a lot of things - mostly it's reduced carbs and higher fat and higher protein, but I'm not counting or worrying about small details. If I want a bun with my burger once in awhile, I'll eat it. If I decide to have breakfast once in awhile, then so be it... etc.

It is a "diet" any eating plan is a diet, but it's MY diet and it's what works for me.

Sounds like you're a mindful eater! :) Without a dieting obsession! Wow! A unicorn!!!

And I actually mean that with a lot of respect. Cheers!

Wow, it's surprisingly close to my roll-my-own WOE as well! My eating window is 6PM-8:30PM (I skip lunch as well as breakfast).

Like you, I eat fresh veggies and/or fruit and 2 squares dark choc and a little whole-grain starch (but no bread) with my one meal.

Wow,Toyota, I'm actually starting a 24 hour fast for the first time after dinner tonight. I hope to make it a regular thing. How is it working for you?

marigrace 04-27-2014 03:50 PM

Sorry I didn't mean to call you Toyota....my tablet keeps correcting my spelling.

Lol, no problem!

I got to my window incrementally, getting used to my schedule then moving it up an hour. My WOE is actually designed primarily for me to maintain rather than lose weight. It's doing very well for that and actually, I am just delighted to find a way that I can avoid gaining weight that doesn't involve calorie or carb counting.

I have a history of yoyo dieting, mostly with calorie counting. After I'd get to goal, I'd stop counting (even though I intended to keep at it) and gain weight (even though I'd still be eating healthy). My last regain, I got up to about 160 (it got that high because I *so* didn't want to go back to CC).

I decided to try a different approach this time, one that I truly felt I could maintain. I've managed to lose 15+ pounds with this WOE, but that's over the course of several months. It's not fast, but I'm a lot more satisfied with this WOE, and I feel I will be able to stick with it.

Yes, your current weight is pretty much where I want to be .

Marigrace, my eating plan is a lot like yours. I don't consider it a diet...it's just my eating plan. I want to lose weight, so maybe it IS a diet. But I don't think I will ever go back to my old way of eating. I am doing low carb. But it's not Atkins, because I eat some things not permitted on Atkins. And it's not South Beach, or Ideal Protein, or any of the other low carb plans. Mostly I avoid starchy carbs, but sometimes I eat them. This is probably why my weight loss is slow, with a lot of ups and downs. But if I went on a strick low carb diet I probably wouldn't still be on it.

I'm lucky that my 3 favorite foods are eggs, roasted poultry, and baked or grilled fish.
