Just heard that we're expecting a wind chill as low as 44 below tonight! It's -25 right now. I don't like.
Should be much more bearable temps tomorrow. Rennie- if you're looking for really low carb and low cal recipes, google Ideal protein recipes, not the ones with packets but the recipes w/meat and veggies. |

Sum I think we all eat cheese ... I eat an apple or an orange if the kids don't eat them all. ;) We have all modified this diet to help us ... deciding that if we deprive ourselves it will be a disaster, and if it is not hindering our weight loss then why not. (CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG SLOW-CARB-ERS :)) I got to the gym today, did my walk so I hope that it helps to combat my 2 cinnamon pancake cheat today :crossed: |
Good to know, Rennie. I like snacking on a piece of cheese. I used to go crazy about cheese, now I allow myself 1 oz per day. I did not have any yesterday, nor any fruit (That was because we were out).
South Beach has a lot of slow carb friendly recipes. Esp. bean recipes. I will keep making them. Like I said, I did not like the sugar substitute part of SB, so many recipes called for it. Do you guys eat full fat products. I know lot of dairy is not allowed on this diet, but if you have sour cream, for instance, is it the full fat kind? I dropped 0.6 pounds yesterday. I am hoping to drop another pound today. I hate being above the 140 mark. I got taste of the 130's :) |
Sum good job on the .6 down :high: I think I buy the low fat sour cream. I don't have any so I can't check. But in my opinion you eat healthy period. So I wouldn't change a thing if I were you, especially with your level of fitness :) Cheese is also my go to for a quick snack I cut it into one ounce pieces unless I can find the Colby Jack cheese sticks I like for the price that I want to pay :)
I am down .6 to 165 today, so happy now to keep this going :) |
I gained over a pound yesterday, but I expected it... and perhaps more. I finally made my homemade Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl for my recipe book and it was pure heaven! So glorious!!! Was only a cheat meal vs a whole day, but it was a really good one!!! :)
Spent the day today chopping veggies and making low carb foods and soups for the week. And studying. Tough week ahead - have a final in an on-line class I'm taking, plus I work full time, and I have two other events that I have to attend this week. May or may not make WW this week. Will depend on how I'm doing preparing for my final. Yeah... 52 years old and still stressing about a final! (Will probably break out with pimples like a teenager too!) :) |
By the way, I buy low fat sour cream, cottage cheese and milk but that's probably because I'm not very good at following the diet rules. I suggest googling it online for the slow carb diet to find out which one you should be doing, (if you don't get the book).
My philosophy is, when in doubt, GOOGLE! (I swear, I don't work for Google.) |
I had a pretty good OP day. Calories were on a bit lower side but I was just not that hungry, so why push it :) Scale rewarded me with a loss :yay:
Today will be a challenge; I volunteer at a local Finnish Center (I am from Finland), and it usually gets super crazy over there. Luckily I am up so early that I will have time to pack my lunch. -- I most likely won't get any exercise in because I am usually way too tired by the time I get home. My day yesterday: Meals B - Hardboiled egg, tea L - Spinach salad w/grilled chicken, veggies, sprinkle of feta cheese and vinaigrette dressing D - Salmon and broccoli S - None Exercise 3.3 mile walk/hike through snow Weight this morning; 139.8 |
sunlover12 LOL, I did Google it :) It says no dairy is allowed (except one thing which I forgot now). -- I love Google, what did we do without it?? Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl sounds heavenly. I am gluten free (not by choice), and I drool over bread  -- A pound after a cheat day is great!
Rennie You are doing amazing!! I hope today you'll see 164.x! :woohoo: |
Steph, I am excited about your recipe book :) Sorry about the gain  I was stressing about exams for a child care class I took last year ... I'm 47. It's what we have to do. I sat up until 3am finishing a paper that needed to be done by midnight the following day because I had church that night and I had to go to work that day. I was dead when we left church that Wednesday. LOL, NOOOO on the pimples ... my poor son has them bad :( I'm a google nut also :) it just works :)
Thanks Sum :) if you read over this thread and the previous one we all eat cheese and it is fine. I have not had any issues. My calories were low yesterday thanks to some ridiculous snacking I decided to drink tea for dinner since I wasn't hungry anyway ... I think that's what is also referred to as intuitive eating, right? Today's calories are already on MFP and though not where they should be I have full meals planned, I may add a snack, idk. I am down .2 this morning to 164.8 a number I have never seen before :) |
Sum :yay: on getting under the 140's I know that's what you wanted ... I think you'll see good numbers the remainder of the month :) and your meals yesterday look fine to me :) way better than mine (no junk ;)) Keep it going Sum, you've got this and will be a great Slow Carb-er:)
|
I am ravished. As usual, my position ( I am the membership chair) at the Finnish center got insane and I simply did not have time to eat :( I did pack my lunch but it sat untouched. -- I am cooking some beef tenderloins (french fries for the kids) and asparagus. Luckily the steak is huge. :)
Funny thing, more stuff was piled on me as the day went by; I finally "escaped", actually literally, through the back door at 4 pm :D I did receive a few emails on my way home. Isn't volunteering supposed to be easy?? |
Sum that just shows that you are EXCELLENT at what you do and they know it :) Sorry you didn't get to eat your lunch but at least you came home and started preparing a good meal and didn't snack on something not good for your body. I told you ... you have this in the bag ... I would have ate all of my lunch in the car and been ready for something else when I got home ;)
|
This thread has gotten really quite .... :(
|
Yeah, what up Peeps?! Where is everyone????
Good job Rennie and Sum! Sum, I know from experience, volunteering is not easy, but is rewarding. You're doing awesome! I did not weigh myself this morning. Was running late and too cold to disrobe, but it is warming up! YEAH!!!! Where are all you Slow Carbers? Summer is coming Chickees, and with it, all kinds of SCARY like bathing suits, shorts and sleeveless tank tops, (Oh My!!!!) Hey Momma Hen Jacqui - your Chicks need you! |
Thanks Steph :) I don't wear shorts due to varicose veins and I don't have a place to wear a swim suit :) I just want to look good in regular clothes for a change :D It was nice here yesterday and today it is freezing. The kids got out of school early today and they are out tomorrow. My husband just got home. He said there are accidents every where, smh. Stay warm Steph stay warm  I know it's cold when my kids tell me to turn the heat up, lol.
