Green tea! Chocolate!

how effective is this er stuff..
I bought some to try that has pineapple and grapefruit and its icky but Im getting used to it.
I bought it for the health benefits, like I might go and buy some dark choc.

"Chocolate contains up to four times the anti-oxidants found in tea." Sound too good to be true? In fact, that was the conclusion of a recent study by Holland's National Institute of Public Health and Environment. Researchers found that chocolate - specifically dark chocolate - contains 53.5 mg of catechins per 100 grams. (Catechins are the powerful anti-oxidants that fight against cancer-causing cells and help prevent heart disease). By contrast, 100 ml of black tea contains a mere 13.9 mg of catechins

who here drinks it for its 'increase metabolic rate' properties and how effective it it?

Funny that they included the amount of catechins in black tea in their example! Further down in the article, it says that green tea has between 28 and 42 mg of catechins per cup. It's my understanding that amount of catechins varies depending on quality and age of the tea, so you need a good quality, fresh, loose leaf green tea to get the most benefit. Better yet would be white tea, which can contain as much as 5 times the antioxidants of green tea!

As far as the metabolic properties of green tea, it isn't as much as we'd like to see, lol. Studies have shown that if you drink 4 cups of good quality green tea every day, that you can burn 8 pounds of fat - in a year ;)

Chocolate, of course, would be the tastiest way to get antioxidants :D It's also part of the Poly Diet, which is not necessarily a weight loss diet, but a live longer and healthier diet.

The chocolate diet...mmmmMMMMmm. I hear some of the chocolate manufacturers are trying to make more dark chocolates that have the good stuff in them (not sure if it's antioxidants in particular). I hear most commercialized American dark chocolate is so stripped that it doesn't have all the good stuff it's supposed to.

If it is antioxidant power you are looking for, get yourself some pomegranate juice. It has more antioxidants than green tea, red wine, chocolate, you name it. And it is delicious!! :D
