Water needs flavor.

I have been wondering if anyone knows of a way to flavor my water, instead of actually buying the flavored water that might have lots of sugar added. Is there any thing I can use that is sugar free and light cal to flavor my water. I have water 5 gal cooler and i sometimes want to flavor a cup or two throughout the day.

There are flavored waters that have no calories. I often buy a sparkling water that is lemon/lime flavored. It's similar to things like the flavored Perrier, only the carbonation is added rather than naturally occuring -- and it's a lot cheaper!

You could also add a tablespoon or two of fruit juice to plain water.

Having said that, I think it's really important to get used to drinking water that's NOT flavored. We spend most of our lives training ourselves that everything we put in our mouths has to be highly flavored, and we lose the taste for things as they are found in nature. If you dedicate some effort to retraining your tastebuds to appreciate plain water, you'll reap a lot of benefits overall.

I agree with funniegrrl, and I like plain water. However, sometimes having a flavored drink will satisfy my "head hunger" and keep me from eating something I really don't need. :) I like Crystal Light, but I also like a glass of water with a slice of lemon or lime in it. A lot people like a little fruit juice mixed in. If you just don't like the way your water tastes, consider some sort of filter. When I lived in Seattle, the city water was awful compared to my well at home in Alaska. I bought a Brita pitcher and it made the water palatable. Keeping water cold in the fridge also makes it taste better. Sometimes I freeze my partially filled water bottles, then add more when I take them out. They stay cold a long time.

It doesn't really have a taste and is actually refreshing. I get water from a water mill which is pretty good at keeping things filtered well. I still drink diet coke and diet 7 up and would like to slowly replace these with flavored water to fool myself into thinking that I'm drinking something with more taste. I know I gotta cut down on the diet cokes and this seems like a good way.

I prefer my water plain, but sometimes I add a lemon slice to ice cold water, especially if I'm eating a meal that has strong flavors. I always drink my water as cold as possible, it's much better that way in my opinion.

I've added a splash of the sugar free syrups, black cherry is wonderful. French Vanilla sort of tastes like flat cream soda :dizzy:

I've also added a slice of lemon or lime or even an orange. Just squeeze the juice into the water and throw the rind into for a little zesty flavor.

Since water supply is my business (and I live in Seattle) I have an obligation to drink plain old water and love it. I do however, find the Crystal Light singles very helpfull for when I drink bottled water. They are kind of spendy but very convenient and almost always on sale.

I can't stand flavored waters bought in a store! Yuck. But like someone else mentioned sometimes I squeeze a little lemon into it, and I haven't tried this yet but I think orange wouldn't be too bad either. Or you could always add a packet of splenda, if you're a cockroach.

i had something really good at a wedding a few weeks ago.. they had added sliced fruit to pitchers of water, which gave the water a subtle fruit taste. it still tasted mostly like normal water, but it was a little twist from the basic lemon wedge trick. it was also kinda pretty. i think she used apples and oranges. but other fruits would work too i think.

I like crystal lite, and I found that they are much cheaper at WalMart than at the local grocery stores.

And if you use Crystal Light, you don't have to mix it to full strength. Just a little bit will give enough to taste.

I started putting a few squirts of lemon juice from the bottle in my water and now I can't drink plain water :(
