Good ways of making up calories
OK so i currently need to eat around 2000 calories a day to lose weight (weird i know). i've been undereating for so long my body wont lose weight.
anyway, i get to around 16-1700 and i have already eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks. i dont want more cereal cos i've had my milk for the day and i know people advise against bread most of the time. so what can i have that's 200 calories or more? i mean, i'v ehad an orange during the day and i can eat strawberries but how many calories are in a strawberry? |
why not have a handful of nuts? like almonds or walnuts, a little healthy fat, small amount of protein and carbs...
soup can also be a good balance of carbs/protein/and fat...like barley soup with some chicken and veggies in it...sometime though kind of high in sodium (unless you make it yourself) so it can cause bloating hummus (2tbs for 50 cal) with carrots (35 cal) and broccoli (40 cal) plus a few organic pita chips (75 cal) is nice my favorite snake for around 200 cal right now is: some frozen berries (30 cal) bit of yogourt (around 6 oz) ff (100 cal) ice cubes 1 packet of ff sf hot chocolate mix (10 cal) scoop of protein powder (80 cal) mix with water (or milk) if you need some liquid in it blend and enjoy...it has calcium, protein, fiber, small amount of good carbs, and chocolate :) |
Almonds are what I would suggest. About 28 of them (1 oz) has 170 calories and they really are good for you. I assume based on your post that you are looking for something that isn't too filling as it seems you are physically satisfied with what you have already eaten for the day. If that is the case, nuts are a nutrition packed option.

I also like the suggestion of almonds or other nuts. I love cashews also, but almonds are hard to beat for flavor.
One of my new favorite snacks (discovered after I saw it mentioned here) is frozen grapes. I just stick fresh green seedless grapes in the freezer. The texture, cold, and sweetness make it a great ice cream substitute and they are so good! One cup of grapes has 65 calories, but you could add some ff cool whip or something to get the 200 calories. Or, just have more than one cup. |
Whole grain crackers with peanut butter
Fruit and grape-nuts mixed into plain fat-free yogurt tabouli salad in a whole wheat pita a bowl of cereal and skim milk Good luck! |
