i hardly eat out. eating in is much much cheaper. however its the initial outlay that costs. i.e a 15kg bag of rice can cost alot of money for someone on a budget but will feed a family of 5 pretty much every evening meal for month.

As a busy college student, wife, farmer, and what seems like endless trips to the doctors, etc..etc.. there are times I HAVE to eat on the run, if I am running late to class, have a study group, or appointments. I go to subway. For a few reasons, theres enough variety even though its sandwiches there are a number of different ways to eat them. It keeps me within my calories, especially with the addition of baked chips, and other side options. Its the healthiest place on the way to school. I pass every fast food restaurant in town on my way to school, I used to stop nightly at a different one, now I have one stop, they know me, and what I want and its done quickly so I can run.

Thanks for the website! I just bookmarked it.

I don't eat out as much as I used to because it was becoming too costly for my wallet and my body. Fast food always leaves a "blech" feeling afterward.

I'm on the South Beach Diet and do well most of the time. I was on Phase 2 off and on but went back to Phase 1 this week. I do well with this phase but get overconfident on Phase 2 because I add a fast food meal here or there. Before I know it I'm eating more fast food than the right foods.

As long as I plan my meals in advance I'm successful. This way I leave no room for fast food. Of course there are emergencies that arise, like leaving the house without your lunch bag. Having knowledge of what to eat and where makes it better. The South Beach Diet has a book with fast food allowances. There's also a sticky on the SBD threads.

Good luck to all of you on your weight loss journeys.

I have as well discovered the beauty of Subway this week! Not only are they much healthier than other fast food places.... but when in doubt about calories.... check out their napkins! Can't ask for better! haha

amanda, did the subway you went to have the rewards cards? if they did and you didn't get one, you should get one the next time you are there. you can earn points for a free sub.
