/totally off topic

This thread title sounds like the name of a new reality TV show, LOL.

I think calories depend on how much the mango weighs - how big it is.
They are 54 calories per 100gms.

PLUS they are negative calorie! Which is awesome. (negative calorie meaning they burn more calories to digest than they have - for those who don't know).
This really surprised me but I was glad to hear it.

Another mango junkie here!

I buy mango juice and mix it with orange juice. Delicious! I also mix mango/orange juices with cranberry juice. They're all good for you and wonderful with breakfast or evening.

I used to get a great red lentil and mango stew from Au Bon Pain - I wonder if the recipe is online anywhere? Off to google.

I do, I do! But how does one pick a ripe mango? Anyone know?

I do, but only cause I spent a lot of time in Jamaica. Mango tree's everywhere :) Sitting on the beach and eating a fresh mango, It was really lovely. Once I got home and went to the grocery store and bought some, I noticed that they just aren't as good as they are in Jamaica... I still buy them the odd time.

Slightly yielding to the touch, they should smell great.

And also not be green - nice and yellow (or even slightly red, depending on the species).

I really haven't eaten many mango's. With all these suggestions I am going to have to start.

[QUOTE=WarMaiden;2241750]Mango Salsa

Mix in smallish bowl:

1 ripe mango, cubed (and let the juice drip in the bowl as you're cubing, if you can!)
1 clove garlic, minced
Juice of 1 lime
Red pepper flakes or minced fresh chile pepper to taste

I do mango chutney with mango, jjalepino pepper, garlic and lime. Eat with pork chops. yum.

I love mango juice mixed with yogurt - very smooth, calming drink.

:thanks: everyone for the yummy recipes! I love them as well, and have noticed they are cheaper and much more in evidence since moving to California. mmmm!

Thanks also for the info about the "negative" calories......:)
