I've heard that they do carry it in stores but I ordered it online and the brand is 'better than roasted'. They do soaked/raw nut butters and they are soooo good. Expensive though.

It takes a couple times to get into the whole naural peanut butter kick. I didn't like it much at first.. but now I do! I can't imagine going back to the other!! Like anything.. give it a chance--it's not sooo bad~ :)

I second JerseyGyrl's recommendation for Smart Balance. It is still sweetened (with molasses instead of sugar), still has some salt, and still adds fat (the NON-hydrogenated kind--including flaxseed for Omegas).

Someone else mentioned cashew butter--YUM! It is hands down my favorite nut butter. It is more dangerous for me to have in the house than peanut butter--I can easily sit and eat half a jar with just a spoon!

I have a problems with overeating peanut butter, but I noticed that I will overeat Adams peanut butter (it's peanuts, oil, and salt, I think), but not the stuff I get at the local co-op, which is just peanuts that I grind. Not sure why that is--maybe a textural thing or the oil?? I do know that if my DH ate Jif or Skippy instead of Adams, I would have no problem at all with peanut butter. To me, they don't even have a peanut taste.

I've also bought the PB2, which is what Kaplods is describing, I think. It's great in smoothies and tastes pretty good reconstituted. Definitely less calories and fats, but pretty darned expensive. I still have a jar left so maybe I'll try mixing it with Adams. Or maybe I'll just leave the darned peanut butter alone!

KLK, the all natural stuff makes me ill too. way too oily. When I'm not dieting, I like reduced fat Jif. I'm okay with eating preservatives. I'm hoping they'll "preserve" my youthful skin.
When I'm doing WW, I like Better'n Peanut butter. Is it as good as the regular stuff? Maybe not. but it helps with the PB cravings, and is much lower in points and sodium than the other kinds. There's also none of that artificial sweetener stuff in it. (Before I get angry replies, there is nothing wrong with artificial sweeteners. I avoid them because I'm extremely allergic to them.)

Count me in as a natural peanut butter fan. Skippy, Jif, et. al. don't taste right to me and they look gross--kind of slimy. Ick.

My current peanut butter Snaclite Power PB, which is actually a blend of peanuts, wheat germ, and flax seed oil (it also has egg whites, honey, salt, and flax seeds). It is slightly lower in calories than regular PB (80 calories per tbsp as instead of 100), but it is packed with nutrition--about half the fat and saturated fat of regular or natural PB, twice the fiber, and 1.5 times the protein. I think it tastes like natural PB, so if you don't like natural PB, you won't like this either. But if you do like natural PB, you might give it a try. GNC sells it in their stores.

Well with the natural peanutbutter I like how the oil separates... I just dump the oil out. I measured out once and it was nearly 40 grams of oil (fat).

Natural peanut butter is good for you as opposed to the other stuff.

I love natural peanut butter. How do you stir it without the oil, and even more so, how do you spread it on bread?

KLK, that is a very strong reaction, I almost wonder if it could have been that jar of PB? like perhaps it was spoiled somehow? then again, our tastes all differ :)

Have you guys tried hazelnut butter? Yummmmmmm!!!!! I also really like cashew butter and almond butter (sometimes). I've never had walnut butter - I don't like the taste of whole walnuts very much, but now I really want to try some walnut butter to see if I like that! And I've tried macademia, sunflower, and pumpkin seed butters and am not very fond of those either.

I've gotten a jar of PB that was rancid - ewwwww. Put me off it for quite some time. :)

I don't know about straight hazelnut butter, but my DH loves Nutella - I don't, thank goodness....
