Deli meats

I love deli meats, but I try to limit them b/c of the sodium & also nitrites.

When I do buy them, I usually get FF or low fat, low sodium varieties. I love turkey breast as well as chicken breast, cooked ham, and salami. Honestly I'm a big fan of all deli meats, but like I said before, I try to limit them. I've also tried the Whole Foods deli meats and they're good, but they're too expensive for me.

How do you feel about deli meats? Do you make them part of your diet? Or would you consider them processed food and try to stay away from them? Which are your favorites? Any brand you like?

Some brands are all natural and nitrite free. I know Boar's Head is one of those, and that is sold in our area. As for the salt, I just try to drink more water during the day :)

I'm much more likely to throw a hunk of meat in the crockpot and make sandwiches with that. I buy what's on sale and freeze it...this way we've always got meat for lunch/dinner...

At our house, we try to eat things in their more natural state, so we avoid processed meat. But you're right, they can be delicious!

I love Boar's head - especially the honey maple turkey...yum...I have it a couple of times each week....yum.
