Help with Calories!
Hi everyone.. I have a soy meat question 4 u lol
Iīve heard soy meat is really good and healthy so I decided to buy some. So, I went to the supermarket and started looking for it (it was funny because I dindīt know where to look for it or how it looked lol) but finally I found a package, it was dehidrated so it dindīt look as meat or anything similar (u must be laughing at me, I know, but Iīve never cooked in my life) so I read the label and said it has 60 calories per 20 grams, so here goes the question, itīs 60 calories per 20 grams of dehidrated meat (before cooking it) or after cooking it. Because I calculated after hidrating it and cooking it and 20 grams is SO SO SO little, maybe my portions are wrong but maybe itīs just that you have to calculate before cooking... please help me! |
My guess would be the weight before cooking it, unless the package says otherwise. Almost always the weight refers to uncooked weight.

You could check with the number of servings in package and see if that matches.
You should try baked tofu too, they're pretty meaty and you get a good-sized serving for not that many calories :) |
Tks!
I checked the package and it said serving :20 grams and then said 15 servings per package, and the package has 300 grams so yes... it is 20 grams of UNCOOKED meat! Tk u all, itīs my first time cooking so I was a bit confused. I guess the same applies to pasta or not? |
Definitely applies to pasta. 2oz raw is a serving. The weight almost always refers to the uncooked food.
