Poor health chasing me
One of the biggest motivators for me to lose weight is the hope that the health problems of my 76 yr. old mother will not catch me. She is suffering from vascular dementia. It is like alzeimers but is caused by a poor circulatory system. In addition her knees hurt her so much she can barely walk.
Today, as in many days I was woken up with knee pain (I injured my meniscus several years ago and so I am nearly bone on bone). Sorry just a little pity me party....I will be better when the motrin kicks. I am doing really well on ww but sometimes I feel like I am too late! Does anyone else feel like the health problems are catching them faster than the weigh can come off? -Phil |
I would like to think that it is NEVER too late. I am about to turn fifty...it had better not be! Sometimes I feel that no matter how careful I am, just when I am getting in the groove of a program something goes wrong. This time it is tendonitis in my right arm, which isn't helpful when you are doing a weight training program. So I do know the feeling of just, and sometimes NOT staying ahead of the problems.
But, I do hope, that as I soldier on, things will get better. Something I read said that for every pound you lose, you take four pounds of stress off your knees and hips. so keep on going...do your best, it is NEVER too late!:carrot: I |
Thanks...I heard that too, and the motrin has kicked in so I feel much better. I know in my head it is never too late. I just don't always feel it in my bones.

It's never too late to get healthier!!! You're doing a great job. :)
Our WL numbers are very similar. We're even the same height LOL. We can do this...one day at a time! |
I agree with everyone, it is NEVER to late! Part of why I'm getting in shape now is fear of how being overweight will affect me in later years.
Just imagine, if you didn't start the process to get healthier, where would you be? |
I understand what your saying too. By being overweight I now have sleep apnea.
I also had surgery on my menicious last Aug. and they told me it got progressively worse, and so in Dec. I'm going in for a knee replacement. I know what kind of pain your going through. Cortisone shots have given me a LOT of relief, but you can only have 3 in a year, so now I'm doing SynVisc (puts fluid in between the bones to give cush). I go for those this week. My knees aren't weight related, but it sure isn't helping the situation any! It's one of the reasons why I need to lose weight, plus diabetes and heart disease run in my family. I need to do this to be Healthy! I don't think it's too late, you never know what other things you could be preventing! ~Dolly |
