Welcome Tink :)

Hey Courtnie, may I ask what the bold in your menus means? It's something you just recently started doing, and I've tried to puzzle it out but I can't! I am intrigued!!

sotypical 07-30-2008 02:26 PM

suitejudyblueeyes - superfoods! trying to eat lots of them, and rather then posting both here and in the superfoods one i thought I would just kill two birds with one stone here.

suitejudyblueeyes 07-30-2008 03:15 PM

Ooh, that works! I was trying to figure out if it was Core foods, or 0-point foods, or what.... I didn't even think of superfoods. I like it! :D

sotypical 07-30-2008 05:07 PM

I ordered the superfoods book, should be here any day! I have wanted to read it for sooo long now.

Bloomer 07-30-2008 07:02 PM

I'm reading superfoods too. That's one of the reasons I keep coming back to Weight Watchers, on my long, tortuous journey :) You can fit anything into it!

Today (aiming for 32; 27 so far)

Stonyfield Strawberry Organic Smoothie (5)
2 slices high fiber bread (2)
2 tbl peanut butter (5)
2 tbl jam (2)
South Beach bar (3)
16 oz Gatorade (2)
16 oz Honest Tea (1)
Kashi coconut chicken dinner (6 points; ate 2/3 = 4)
Stonyfield nonfat lemon yogurt (3)

suitejudyblueeyes 07-31-2008 10:02 AM

The Superfoods book is incredibly interesting. I love food science. If I had my life to do over I'd do my undergrad in nutrition/food science, instead of English... Ah well... :)

Thursday:

B: 2 slices sprouted grain toast (2), 1 tsp earth balance (1), 1 c light soy milk (2)
S: Odwalla bar (4)
L: leftovers - 1c whole wheat rotini (4), meatless meatballs (1), spinach, olives, tomato sauce (1)
S: fruit of as yet undetermined variety (1), 12 almonds (2)
D: vegetable lentil curry (5), pita (2), popcicle (1)

Jaime, I've got a question about the Snobby Joes. Did you use the full 3 Tablespoons of chili powder? Also, when you figured the points, how many servings did you divide it by? I notice the author said "4-6".

sotypical 07-31-2008 12:39 PM

My superfoods book came last night! can't wait to read it!

I had a moment of weakness last night and ate some... not so good food (bread and macaroni and cheese, LOL) and this morning a scone... haha, all well, I can still save today!

TinkFreak117 07-31-2008 01:47 PM

S: Strawberries, bananas, light cool whip, and 1/2 a grahm cracker on top (4.5)
Late Snack: cookies n creme bar (2)

= 27.5/30

I was so proud I knew I had to babysit at 7 so I ate my dinner around 5:30 and I packed a dessert so I wouldn't binge on their food. Kid junk food is so yummy and reminds me of being a kid, but not good for you. So I brought the strawberries, Bananas, cool whip, and grahm cracker mix and ate that around 9. Which was soooooo yummy!!! I was hoping she'd be home between 10-11 so I could go home and sleep and not eat again, but she didn't get home til 12 so I was hungry and ate again. Darn! But still under points so.. not bad!

suitejudyblueeyes 07-31-2008 01:55 PM

Jane - That recipe DEFINITELY makes 6 servings. Dividing it into 4 would be overkill, especially if you have something to go along with them! Legumes are so filling. As for the 3 T of chili powder, well, I went a slightly different route with the recipe because halfway through making it I realized I didn't actually have half the ingredients. The comments on the recipe page say that as long as your chili powder is mild (not like cayenne spicy), the 3T is a good move.

I wrote about the changes I made on my blog:
http://twofifteenandgo.wordpress.com...cabbage-salad/

Hope that helps a bit :)

ETA: I just looked at my own blog post, I forgot I *did* put in the chili powder with the rest of my modifications. So yes, 3T chili powder is right, as long as it is not a spicy chili powder!

Jane 07-31-2008 10:38 PM

Thanks for sharing, Jaime. Yes, lentils are fillings, and so are split peas. The photos of your Snobby Joe and the cabbage salad looks yummy! Since I had no idea what a Vegan-whatever was, I clicked on the link. Looks like a cool cookbook for anyone with healthful meals in mind. Thanks again. :)

sunshower 08-01-2008 12:57 PM

Tink -- if you need to be cautious of saving points due to your blood sugar, you might want to check out the 100 calorie Thomas's Light English Muffins. They're only 1 point each and would give you another 1 point buffer for something sugary if you find yourself low. That way, if you're not low in your blood sugar, you can use that extra point for a healthy "fill you up" snack like 1 cup of canteloupe or another serving of grapes later in the day.

TinkFreak117 08-01-2008 04:08 PM

thanks sunshower, I am going food shopping tonight so I'll keep an eye out for them =)

TinkFreak117 08-02-2008 02:19 PM

I did some exercise in the pool today for a half hour and I waked around for an hour at the fair which should have been some activity points but... I'm proud that I only ate one doughtnut, because normally we get 3 dozen doughnuts and I could eat 4 in one sitting! THey're amazing! I really should have only eaten 1 piece of pizza but... I ate two but without the crust, that should change the points , but by how much? anyone know? Thanks... I hope your friday was better then mine
