I'm gaining weight

I'm soooo frustrated!!!!

I've started a new workout regimen I lift weights heavily.. and I know weight lifting causes weight gain, but you'd think at my weight, it would just melt off!!!!!!!

I've stopped Body For Life and am doing WW, so maybe the increase in carbs, or increase of calories..

I was eating 1400-1500 a day and on WW I'm eating 1850-2000 a day..

I drink 1 1/2 gallons of water, exercise 45-80 minutes a day 6x a week..

Why is this happening??

even at your size if you just increased the weight lifting you will still show a gain temporary your body/muscles need to adjust to the new increased activity and will retain fluid!hang in there!!! do NOT give up!!!

Yes, I have heard this too. I started weight lifting about a month and a half ago due to an injury preventing me from running. The guys at the gym said you can gain up to 15 lbs of water weight in your muscles at first. They also told me it takes roughly 2 months for your body to adjust. I gained about 8 lbs and am starting to see it come off now. The key is measure yourself with a tape measure at your neck, bicep, forearm, bust, waist, hips, thigh and calf and write them down you WILL see changes there. I have been doing it for a month and lost an inch and a half off my waist, 2 inches off my hips and I have gained a bit on my bicep, which is actually some nice definition. Seeing THOSE numbers kept me motivated when the scale was being stupid. Also some gyms have scales that can measure water, muscle, and fat...not sure of the accuracy, but the additional 8 lbs came up in the WATER category for me and the fat went down, which was also motivating...good luck! You are going to be so sculpted from this when you are done! (I hope I am too)
