The Deal With The Oil

I am on my second week of restarting WW (I tried it for a few weeks last year). I noticed that there is a place for "oil" at the bottom of each page of my food log, but I am unsure what that means. Obviously there is probably some oil in the food I eat, but I am suppose to make sure I have oil in my diet?

This question is a clear indicator I should have stayed for the newbie meeting! I thought I knew what I was doing so I didn't bother!

Part of the 8 Healthy Guidelines that WW sets up is getting 2 servings of good oil a day. So, for example, the only way I get these in is by cooking vegetables in 1 tsp olive oil and since I usually only do that at dinner, it's really rare for me to get in both, but I'm always aware I ought to be trying to do it every day. You could also put oil in your salad dressings. There is a post in the main Weight Watchers thread with some great ideas for getting the oil in. Oil helps your body absorb all the good nutrients in your food. I believe each serving has to be a tsp, which makes two servings of good oil a day worth 2 points. There are several different types of oils that count towards this, but I don't know them, unfortunately. I'm sure someone'll come along and answer that part for you :)

2 teaspoons of healthy oil, daily. It comes to two points. Healthy oils include olive, sunflower, canola, safflower, or flaxseed. These are the oils themselves. Things like nuts, avocados, pills & whatnot do NOT count towards daily oils.

You can cook with them, top salads with them, take them straight up if you'd really like. There are a myriad of ways.

I take a fish oil supplement and Vitamin E supplement daily...does this count towards this total?

Unfortunately not. The oils have to be in measurable, liquid form.

Oil for WW diet

Yeah, that is one of the rules of the diet. The fat in olive oil is good for you, and they want to make sure that you are still getting the necessary fat you need in your diet (since you might not otherwise be if you are cutting calories to eat low points).
