Has anyone gained on Flex?
I have been doing flex for a week, having 24 points per day. I follow the 8 healthy guidelines, haven't used my 35 extra points, and am finding that the scale is going up, not down. I was doing Atkins before and got bored. I'm wondering if adding carbs could be part of the reason. Anyone have any ideas?

you can do low carb even on WW. i don't do low carb, but i'm picky about how much and what kind of carbs i eat. like i choose whole grains over refined grains whenever i have a choice. and i definitely eat more protein, veggies and dairy than i do grains. the great thing about Flex is that you can use the points for whatever you want. it's not surprising that your body will need a little bit of time to adjust to a different diet. maybe you need to gradually increase the amount of carbs you're eating???? not sure.

If you're switching right from Atkins to a diet with more carbs in it, you're going to see a gain of anything from 2-8 pounds, usually. This is NOT fat, it is water/glycogen. People think in their first 2 weeks of Atkins they're seeing amazing fat drops...they're not. The scale weight has gone down, but the body is depleting its glycogen stores (and with that, water) because it isn't getting any more carbs for fuel. After that, weight loss is fairly "normal".
When you switch back to a higher-carb diet, the scale number goes up as you replenish your glycogen stores, and the water that goes with it. Don't worry about "gaining" a few scale-pounds. It is not fat. |
yes! If you aren't drinking the required amount of water each day, you WILL NOT loose. I started on the quick start which is only 21 points for 1 week. It jump starts your metabolism, then the following week started at my required points. When I didn't drink my water faithfully, I gained. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for you suggestions. I know WW is a healthier way of eating and I will give it time. I'll try to increase my walking time this week and see if that helps and increase my water. I already do 8 glasses, I''ll try 10.
