Stupid questions/easy answers.
This is probably one of those questions that is so basic that I shouldn't even be asking it. In the Food Companion, grapes are listed at 1-1/2 cups for 1 point. In the Week One guide, a serving of fruit is 1/2 cup. (Do you see where I am going with this?) Would that mean that 1-1/2 cups of grapes for 1 point is three servings of fruit?
Since I'm on a roll... where does it state that the six glasses of water are supposed to be 8 ounces each? Page 80 of the week 1 guide says six glasses... but it doesn't state how many ounces. The reason I am wondering is because TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) has a guideline of 6 six-ounce glasses of water daily so I was just wondering. :) Thanks! Kimberly |
Maybe the 8oz size comes from the fact that 8oz is a cup measure.
A trainer recently told my DH that he should take his weight, divide by 2 and that is how many ounces of water each day he should drink. I have always heard 8-8oz glasses a day plus 1 more for each 25 pounds overweight you are. I don't know which is correct, I just try to get at least the 8-8oz glasses in. BTW--that puppy's face on your avatar is sooooo freakin adorable!!! |
i have tried that 1/2 your weight in oz's theory before! i actually gained weight, retained too much fluid. when i stick the 64oz a day i do much better! i think it depends on your body and how much fluid it needs...

15 grapes, or 1/2 cup, is one serving of fruit.
... So I guess, yes, that 1 point's worth of grapes is 3 fruit servings. Sounds weird when you say it like that but it's the only logical conclusion.... |
I agree with Suite... if 1/2 cup is a serving, and you're eating 3 servings... that's... well.... that's 3 servings.

My food companion says 1 cup of grapes is 1 pt. but if you're going to overeat something, you're better off with grapes than say chocolate! They used to tell you for a snack to eat 10 frozen grapes, my mom loved them like that, I haven't tried that in awhile, next time I buy some.
I'll have to get out my books and look, but I'm sure somewhere it says 6 8 oz. glasses, that's a minimum, even that's hard sometimes, I remember looking for it, like you, sometimes it's easier to try and drink 3 16 oz. glasses for some unknown reason... :sunny: |
kelijpa, I agree about the water drinking. I have a 32 oz WW jug which makes it so much easier to get my basic 64 oz drank. This also makes it easier for me to get another 32 ozs drank most days. I don't think I could ever do it 8 oz at a time again.
