Does anyone have any awesome low-point meusli-bar recipes? I have a hideously fattening one - with honey, sugar, the works!
But I'd be keen to hear from anyone with a low-fat substitute! Love these boards (& Dotti's!!) :) Hexx |
Why don't you post your recipe, then someone (maybe me - AFTER Thanksgiving!) can rework it to lighten it for you -

Awesome idea!
Here we go: 60g butter 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup chocolate chips 1 tablespoon honey 2 cups cereal (bran flakes, rice bubbles etc.) 1. Mix cereals and chocolate chips in a large bowl 2. Melt butter in a saucepan 3. Add sugar and honey to butter and stir over a medium-low heat until it is a frothy bubble. 4. Pour bubbly mix into cereal bowl and combine. 5. Press into a greased tin and let set. I love these! Any suggestions, low point variations are greatly appreciated! Cheers Hexx :) |
Summer's here (I'm in NZ) & I really want to start on the bars - HELP!!!!

Hi-
just a thought to reduce the fat content of your bars.....why not use a sugar substitute such as equal or sugartwin, maybe do half the sugar ,half the substitute. Also, maybe use carob chips instead of chocolate chips though chocolate chips are 1 pt per tbsp. Not to bad. I'm not sure what you have in NZ, but I use a product called I can't believe it's not butter spray. this has zero calories and no fat. that would be a good substitute for the butter or again half in half. Is 60g equivelent to a stick of butter? Hmmm, I think I will test this today and get back to you on it to see how it works out. Emily |
