Default Silly, but Fabulous Ring NSV

So I'm getting married next April, and needed to get a new engagement ring for a couple of reasons...first, this one is falling off. Second, it won't go well with a band, and third, it was a "starter ring" we bought when -very- poor because we wanted to get engaged. Soo...off we go to the ring store.

When I was bigger, only really man-type rings looked good on my fingers...female styles looked like this little dainty ridiculous things against a sea of fat...plus I had to buy them in a size 11 just to fit. So I had a men's wedding band as my engagement ring. Pretty, and it looked good on my hand at the time.

Today, I purchased a feminine, dainty (and shiny!) engagement ring in a size....8.5!!! And it looked -good- on my finger, not scary and too small for the big hand. I know its minor, but I lost 2.5 ring sizes, AND feel like a girl again.

That's awesome - and I totally understand - I had a ring nsv when we went to look at rings the other week. Doesn't it feel great? Way to go!

I don't think that's silly at all. I think that's great! My ring NSV is that my wedding ring no longer fits, it's too big. I haven't had it resized yet, since I'm still losing. The ring is already weak from where it was resized when I "gained" weight. I plan to resize it only one more time.

That's awesome! And the ring is really pretty.

My senior class ring that I got a couple years ago was a 10.5 womens.. and it cannot stay on my finger now. I know in cheap rings I'm an 8 now. I've never been under a 10 so I'm super excited.

So I'm exitced for you too!

Wow! That is a BEAUTIFUL ring!!! Congrats!

My fingers are big and fat too. I don't even wear a ring, usually. I have one birthstone ring that I wear every once in a while. I need to try it on and see if it's gotten lose.

The worst part is, my dad (who is overweight too) has small hands. For the past 15 years, I've worn the same size ring as him!!! Ugh! I've got my mom's big tree-log fingers, instead of my dad's nice small hands. lol

Thumbs up Congrats!

Wow congrats and what a beautiful ring! That really makes a person feel great. I know what you mean..
I wear a band that my dh got me before we were engaged and then my engagement ring and for our marriage blessing I asked to get another band the same as the first ring he ever bought me....they all look great together but they are too big. I feel bad but I usually take them off cuz they annoy me how they slide all around and Im afraid I'll lose them.
They are size 10 and I don't have a clue what size Im at now but Im gonna wait till I reach my goal and hopefully be able to have them sized down to fit my skinny fingers.
WTG - good for you!

Thanks everyone!

I love love love the ring. The side diamonds run underneath the main diamond...sort of like the big one is a bridge over a river of smaller diamonds...and it just looks so darned NORMAL on my hand that I can't get over it.

I felt so unfeminine and so big and ugly when I was so heavy. It feels really, really amazing to be able to wear a feminine ring and pull it off.

I would have waited a couple more months to get the new ring, but we are taking engagement pics this weekend (2 hr photo shoot of just us...can anyone say scary?) and wanted to have the actual final rings in the pictures because they usually take at least a couple shots of the hands to capture the rings...We've been wearing the "starter" rings for 3 years (looooooong engagement), and had been planning the upgrade for at least a full year, ever since the wedding planning began.

8.5! I never even imagined I'd be an 8.5 ring size, ever.

Thanks to everyone for the support/congrats/ring comments.
