Celebrating The Losses Of 2014
This isn't about just one mini goal. For me, it's about all of the mini goals and other loss accomplishments of this past year and beyond. So many of us know the good and bad feelings that come with a string of numbers everytime we step on the scale.
As today is the first day of a brand new year I decided to celebrate what I *have* accomplished instead of dwelling on not reaching those last two pounds to make it back to my lowest weight yet so far by yesterday. I know there has to be others like me here who are feeling unhappy or dwelling more on a negative aspect rather than celebrating all you've accomplished. I hope many of you will join me and post your accomplishments too! You have all worked so hard. You deserve to look back proudly on your accomplishments, whether they be recent or span the entire past year or longer. ♥ Here are the cold hard facts of my losses and gains over the past 1-3 years. Great idea, Jesslan Rose! I know I've been recycling the same couple of pounds for a little while, so some long term perspective couldn't hurt.
Your accomplishments are absolutely awe inspiring, BTW. :D I started back on the forums on Apr 9, 2014 after a regain of 80 lbs. I was morbidly obese ( BMI of 43.77 ) weighing 255 lbs, wearing a tight size 26 jeans and an 8.5 shoe. I couldn't walk 50 feet or up one flight of stairs without my feet and legs hurting, being out of breath, and sweating like a pig. The legs and feet were so swollen that I had " sock dents " that didn't go away. I had headaches and acid reflux almost daily. BP at 140/95, my period was gone due to PCOS, and I could tell my blood sugar was whacked from the frequent bouts of hypoglycemia. Worst of all, I felt as completely defeated and worthless as I think I ever have. Fast forward to today. I've lost 65 lbs, putting me at Class 1 obesity and a BMI of 32.6 I wear a size 16 jean and a 7.5 shoe. I exercise 6-7 days a week. I can run 5 miles without being out of breath. The swelling, crippling pain in my feet, and the acid reflux are gone. BP is back to normal, as is the menstrual cycle and the blood sugar. Best of all, I believe in myself again. I know these remaining 45 lbs, their days are numbered. I have goals for myself that I would not have even thought of, let alone announced to the world. My big goal for the next 2 years is to run a marathon. If that doesn't do me in, I'm going to keep shooting for a Boston Qualifying until I do it or I'm too old to care. |
Both of you ladies are inspiring. Giving me hope that I can achieve my goals. Thank you for sharing your stories.

Streudel, You've made such great strides! And not just weight wise, but in your health too! That's wonderful! You've been one of my biggest inspirations here ever since I joined. Your posts are always insightful and supportive. :) Thank you for that! ♡
Jemcl, I see you are already well on your way to achieving your goal!! Congratulations! |
Grats Jesslan and Streudal! Jesslan I love seeing your progress on My Fitness Pal daily. It's great to see someone posting there daily.
I joined in a little bit late in the year, around the end of September. I've met one mini-goal thus far, but am a little over it after thanksgiving/christmas gain. Overall though, there's still progress. A bridesmaid's dress from September that I wore for my sister's wedding fits a lot better than it use to, where it's even a little loose now where I was spilling out of it a bit before. Looking forward to 2015! |
Hey Sunarie, it's great to see you on MFP too. It's neat watching how others progress through their weight loss. :) Congratulations on your losing 15 lbs!! That's so great!!
