Awesome NSV

I've had so many incredible health and life changes this past year going low carb high fat. Beyond my wildest imaginings. Hunger gone, back pain gone, allergies gone, no longer need to use a CPAP. I could not run 30 seconds and have now done two 5Ks running the entire way.

But even for all that about a week ago this was really cool.

Last April I went to a Columbia sportswear outlet store. I couldn't even fit in their XXL. I went back. I was looking at a medium and it seemed kind of big on me. I tried on a small and it fit. From beyond XXL to a small in 13 or so months, just wonderful.

If I can share anything it would be to research low carb, Primal eating, Paleo eating. The concept is so simple yet the most powerful and profound concept you will ever encounter for your health and weight: eat the way your genes expect you to.

Whole foods, no grains (we just aren't adapted yet to them and they are not nutrient dense or needed), plenty of good fats, meats, and dairy if your body can handle them.

I truly believe if you are insulin resistant, some people are not, but if you are IR you simply will likely never be at a healthy weight or healthy on high carbs. If you go low carb high FAT (not high protein) your body will start to heal and will eventually get to its healthy weight all by itself. No calorie counting, no hunger necessary.

I've lived it. My wife is living it. She started in January. Now down 45 lbs from a size 18 to a size 10, abundant energy, no hunger just like me.

My best suggestion. Go to Mark's Daily Apple. Sign up for the email. You get 9 free book downloads and he will send you some emails on the basis for Primal eating and living. To give you the key info.

What amazing progress you've had!!! Great job! Your wife, too... I bet she looks amazing!

I am eating the same way, and I love it. I discovered it right before conceiving my now-1 year old, when I found out I have autoimmune disease. I stuck to it (but had to go high carb with fruits and veggies) through that pregnancy and actually was 10 pounds lighter at 40 weeks pregnant than I was pre-pregnancy. I went way off track with my now-5-week-old and gained over 30 pounds with her, but now I'm doing low carb, high fat primal and have almost lost all of my pregnancy weight from her already. I love it, and since I had an autoimmune flare up right after she was born, I have to stick with it to avoid nasty cancer causing meds they use to treat my particular disease. (Sorry for any typos; can't type on this tablet!)

Thanks. She is looking very good and feeling good. Took me 48 years to find out a calorie is not a calorie. Hormones and metabolism control weight loss and weight gain. Sure at some level amount of food is important.

But it is NOT by far near the front of things. Insulin is. Insulin is the fat storage and fat keeper hormone. If you are at all insulin resistant you have to tackle carbs first, up fat, and then things will be pretty much effortless.

And without as many carbs, appetite comes down.

The funny thing is all those wild weight loss 'secrets' and products. Turns out, at least for me, simply cutting carbs and upping fat was wildly better than any of those product claims. And for my wife also.
