I have Hope!

  • I can't say that i exactly had a goal. Well, my goal was to find a way to start trending lighter, instead of heavier, no matter how slowly.

I have PCOS, and the last couple of years, i have been trending heavier and heavier. And all the normal ways that people tell you you should lose weight haven't worked, and i've been feeling mostly hopeless about the prospect of ever being able to control my weight.

A couple of weeks ago, i decided that i should find a way to ask other PCOS patients how they have lost weight, which is what led me to this forum. I asked some simple questions and got the same theme of advice : high protein, low carb.

After doing some additional reading, i started paying a lot of attention to how many carbs i'm eating. That was a major and meaningful first step. I thought i was already eating relatively low carb.......but i wasn't. I've adjusted my daily diet to limit me to approximately -ish under 150 carbs per day.

Doesn't sound like much. And it isn't. But i can't believe how much better i feel. It has been only two weeks, and i have more energy; i have way less heartburn issues; i feel good. And bonus: i lost 6 pounds in the first week. I know that might be water weight or some such, but it's the best progress i've seen in.........way too many years.

I have hope now. I have hope that it is within my grasp to become healthier.

  • It is a big deal when you find a plan that works for you! Congratulations, you're on your way!!
  • Good job!

One of the most important things to losing weight is finding what works for you and what will work for you in the long run. The easier you think it is the longer you'll be able to stick with it. And staying under 150 isn't easy. I try for 200 and usually can't do it!
  • Bravo on your 6 Lbs loss so far!! Awesome start!! Keep it up and good luck with your continue efforts!!
  • Thanks y'all!!
