Finally braved the scale!

After about 4 1/2 months, I stepped on the dreaded scale and...
44 pounds lost!
Maybe it's not a lot, but I was so afraid I had not lost what I deemed "enough" in my head. I am so happy that there are results on the scale AND the mirror :)

Just had to share my happy news :)

DaughteroftheKing 07-03-2011 01:06 AM

WOWZA thats A LOT!!! Congrats, that's amazing!!!!
Keep it up!! :D

bopbot 07-03-2011 11:36 AM

Congratulations, Mirax! That's a really fantastic loss for 4.5 months' time.

I applaud you, too, for not needing to step on the scale super often in order to reassure yourself you're losing. One problem I've had in the past is stepping on the scale super often--and then losing my momentum when I don't think the weight is coming off quickly enough.

IsobelRose22 07-04-2011 07:09 AM

That's incredible! How have you done it? I could do with some tips. x

GettinFit 07-04-2011 09:09 AM

WOW that is amazing!!! Congratulations on your success. I love the idea of not weighing yourself for 4.5 months.

noregrets4me 07-04-2011 07:49 PM

CONGRATULATIONS Mira -- that's great. Like you, I stayed off the scale for several months and got a pleasant surprise. I weighed in at my doctor's office a few weeks ago -- and I don't plan on weighing myself again for a while -- maybe the end of the Summer. I'm not focusing on the scale -- but on healthy eating habits.

You go girl!! :)

Mary

Congratulations! That's an awesome job in such a short period of time! I wish I could go that long without jumping on a scale!

tdiprincess 07-04-2011 11:13 PM

That is really awesome! I don't know if I could've waited almost 5 months in anticipation!! Great work!! :carrot: :carrot:

mirax3 07-05-2011 03:11 PM

Thank you all so much! I wasn't even going to touch the scale until I felt like I was 100% satisfied with what I saw in the mirror but then I realized I needed to see if I have been making enough progress! The most important results to me are the ones in the mirror. I am genetically predisposed to be heavy. I am very muscular and even at 206 I probably look around 170 or so. I don't care for scales because they usually discourage me so I have stayed off the scale and stayed focus with cutting calories and exercising and I am so happy with the results.

I will probably get back on the scale in a month or so just to make sure I am staying on track :)

Thanks soooo much for all your support!!!! :)

tdiprincess 07-05-2011 03:45 PM

Hey that is an awesome attitude to have! The scale is only one of the ways in which we can see results! Kudos to you for not getting clingy with the scale LOL.

linJber 07-06-2011 08:06 AM

Great job, Mira. You should be really proud of yourself. I'm proud of you.

Sometimes I wish I could stay off the scale, but that would never work for me. I have to see that tiny progress every couple days. or I get antsy. I was out of town from 7-1 to 7-5 and it made me a little crazy to not weigh myself. I knew I was eating correctly. I walked miles with my cousin when she walked the dog. I drank water. I knew I was doing everything correctly, but I didn't SEE the results of that good behavior and I didn't like that. There's a girl at my gym that is losing a lot of weight but never weighs herself, either. I love that we all have our own ways of doing this.

I definitely see it both ways. I can imagine the feeling of being so antsy to get to that scale, after all you deserve to see results with all the effort you put in! But in the end, everyone knows themselves and how they are and I am SURE that I would become WAY too clingy with the scale and become obsessed with a number as opposed to how I look and feel. Also, I am built to be heavy- I've had doctors/professionals tell me that with my build I can become lean for sure, but never "very skinny" or "slight". That's cool with me, though. As long as I look in the mirror and feel happy, I don't care about the number as much!!

You held off getting on the scale for 4 1/2 months?! DAMN you have willpower girl!

That's an amazing amount of weight for 4.5 months! Congrats! :carrot: :carrot:

sheramama 07-06-2011 11:50 PM

That's awesome :)

nicolae 07-07-2011 04:35 AM

wow thats a huge loss what are you on bout! i have the same problem as bopbot by stepping on the scales every day (sometimes in the morning and at night!) its taken me 6 months to loose 20lbs lol.

jessica2231 07-07-2011 11:53 AM

great job!!! your doing amazing! People like you keep me going!

thank you!

myplanforabetterme 07-08-2011 03:39 PM

That is A LOT already! Whenever I feel 5 lbs is just a small amount of weight loss...my hubby takes me down to the meat department and hands me a package of 5lbs of meat... and it reaffirms that those small steps DO COUNT! Kudos to your loss so far....keep it up!

naffy 02-25-2012 11:36 PM

wow, thats amazing! congratulations :D i would never be able to do that though, LOL. u have a lot of control :)

mirax3 02-25-2012 11:48 PM

Thank you!!! I am so happy that I did it like that, it made me feel so much better. I have lost 30 pds since then and I get on the scale much more regularly. I hate the scale, but it's a good tracker of my progress now. I can't wait for the day I don't fear the scale... if that day every comes lol

Sparx 02-26-2012 08:06 AM

Congrats, great work very inspiring :D

RoseRR 02-26-2012 01:25 PM

Congrats!!! You did a fantastic job and yes I could not wait so long to step in the scale..
