Jogging--attempted running :)
Hello all! 5 weeks ago I could barely make it up a flight of steps with out getting winded. I started working out on a daily basis after that and now friday I decided to take up running. I started by walking then jogging then eventually running! I went a whole mile! No breaks :) I was so happy. I feel I could have done another mile had I not had some where to be. :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot::carrot:

:woohoo:

Congrats! Since it seems you enjoy running, have you thought about training for a 5k?
I've thought about it! I would love to but I need to find one around here! I had never run just to run before in my life and I LOVED it :) I'm thinking of going and running today!
congrats! :D running is my motivation to lose weight. i would seriously recommend trying a 5k.
My daughter started on her cross country team at school and I saw her slim down and get lean pretty quick. I always tells her "Run Forest Run" from Forest Gump but she's too young to get it. LOL
I have tried running before and always end up with sore shins. I am so jealous of people who can run long distances. Have fun! |
good for you!!!!! :)
That's awesome!!! I love running.
Congrats!! That's fantastic- it's one of the things I would like to start getting into as well- I looked into 5Ks here- and the only ones that keep coming up happen on days when my family & I are headed out of town.
You should try googling your cities name and runners club- "erie runners club" and hopefully that will bring up your local runners club and get you info on 5ks that are coming up- I know quite a few cities do Turkey Trots- a 5K on Thanksgiving- |
Like the poster above, I would recommend to look near your city and there is most likely a 5k race on Thanksgiving Day within 20 minutes of your area. Good luck with your new-found hobby of running, and be careful ...after you run your first race it gets addicting ;).
Congrats!
:running::running::running: Go, Go, Go!!! That is an awesome accomplishment.
You went from a flight of stairs to running a mile in a month??
Thats wild! You should be so proud of yourself!!! I've been walking a year and I still don't (probably can't) run. |
Good for you! Hurray!
You may want to google the C25K program. It teaches you to gradually increase your running time to run a 5k. A terrific program and you can go at your own pace. I'm very happy for you. |
Thanks everyone! I will have to google it! I used to hate working out and now i love it! I can't wait to get ready for a 5k! I hope I find one around Thanksgiving but its starting to get pretty cold here!
Wow! I can run all the way from my front door to the bathroom if I've had a lot of water that day, but I sure as heck couldn't run a mile! GO YOU!
Congrats!! :D
Well I'm slowly getting farther I made a mile and a half last friday! There is a 5k right down the street from me on Thanksgiving! wooho
Great job!!! I just recently started running too :D I just woke up one day and decided I felt like running and now I LOVE it!!! I think I might look into the 5k also ;)
I'm in the first week of the Couch to 5K program and while I dread lacing up my sneakers, I'm rather proud of myself afterwards. I also taking swimming lessons and intend on getting my bike out on Saturdays for a ride.
Wooohoooo Toots! It's a great start :) I have the program on my ipod but I haven't tried it yet!

You go girl!!:carrot: ~Shelly~ |
congrats! I've also started up running and i know how hard it is, and how accomplished you can feel afterward! keep up the success!
That is awesome! I have been thinking about running. Because of my family history I went to the heart doctor and had my self checked out and he said it all looks good. So I would really like to try this. I have never run before but you make me believe that I too can do this!! My weight loss has been so slow my thinking is this would help... and make me feel so much better. :running:
Thank you for your post :hyper: |
Congrats! That's so awesome. I am also building up to a 5km. Right now I'm walking for one minute and jogging for 2 mins for 20 mins. I started with walking more and jogging less. I'm also training for a 5 km for next summer. Keep it up! :carrot:
