fought off the evil muffin!
ok so at work, when we have staff meeting someone brings in breakfast..and i use the term "breakfast" loosely. this time it was muffins from costco. i missed the meeting but had the pleasure of running into the muffins right before lunch. i had eaten breakfast but the muffins looked yummy. i grabbed one and darted to my office. i set it down on my desk and starting working on emails etc. every so often i'd sneak a glance at the evil thing. cut my eyes at it and back to the emails. i was hungry but was able to rationalize that if i could wait 15 minutes and eat lunch i'd be ok. and if i still wanted the muffin after lunch, that maybe we could work something out. ate lunch and then back to my desk. there the muffin sat giving me puppy dog eyes...so i googled the costco muffins and came up with a calorie count of..wait for it...690! for this dried out tennis ball sized thing?! i picked it up and went back over to where the box was and back in it went. i felt good. :) the muffin was surely not worth it!

Good for you!

Thanks! :)

wow, that's some impressive rational thinking(to wait until after lunch & see if you still wanted it) & amazing efforts to put it back.:carrot:
690 calories, really?! Wow, muffins are getting pretty bad. That might as well be cake, & a big slice of it too haha. some days I'm happy I'm vegan, lol...I have an excuse to say no.:D |
Yay you! Way to use the brain and not the emotions. :-) Great inspiration!!
|

Ha, I posted an NSV about not turning to a muffin for stress relief just recently. You did some strong work :) WTG!
|
I'll remember this next time I see muffins at work! Way to go girl!
|
YAY!
Just remember, sometimes a muffin is just a naked cupcake that walked out the door to work that morning without its frosting. If you can say no to this sort of evil, you can overcome anything. (Well, nearly.) |
Haha! LOVE THIS!
This past week was my birthday week and I have friends all over NYC and NJ that took me out for MANY a meal. I found that looking up the calories of the restaurants we were going to helped me EXTREMELY. I stayed within my limit and feel GREAT about it. So smart to look up the calorie count! The lady at the cheesecake factory even told me, well I asked if they had a calorie sheet in the back, she said "If we had a calorie sheet I wouldn't have a job". Needless to say I ordered salmon. No butter. |

i always try to have a game plan before going out. helps me not only feel like i'm in control but keeps me from ruining a hard days work! :) |
the muffin giving you puppy dog eyes
I love the image of the muffin, starting out plump, moist and yummy, but sitting on your desk while you gave it the cold shoulder, and getting all dried out and unappealing  yay you!!! :carrot: |
:dizzy:

Thanks for posting this!
My neighborhood deli makes the most amazing muffins from scratch and I used to eat one DAILY. I found that if I can just get into the habit of not eating them, I dont get cravings. But this story will surely help next time I have a lil temptation in the muffin dept, hehe. |
