My first 25!

  • I just went to pick up my neighbor's 14 month old, and realized just how heavy 25 pounds is. I've been carrying all that around? I've posted two terrible photos to see the difference in three months. I'm so used to hiding under big jackets and shirts!

New clothes! I've gone down two sizes, and I wish I had taken my measurements when I began. Oh well, I have them now for my next 25 pound check-in. I saw my doctor yesterday--the lab results aren't in yet, but my blood pressure has dropped back to the normal range. Hoping for good news on the cholesterol.

I've been not really following a "diet" (although I started on South Beach); rather eating healthy and limiting portions, basing my meals on vegetables, lean protein, fruits, whole grains. My goal is to be able to eat like this forever, with some occasional brief (that's the key, for me) indulgences after I reach my healthy weight. For exercise, I'm alternating between walking, dancing and weights. For me, finding some exercise that I didn't resent helped a lot. I watch videos while I use the treadmill or weights (Netflix is wonderful); and just blast music and dance when there's no one but the cat around to watch. The cat remains amused and somewhat alarmed.

Many thanks to everyone who posts here. I don't post much, but have received a lot of solid information and vicarious encouragement from reading over the past three months.

See you at the next 25!
