Funny compliment from a kid

I got the funniest compliment ever today - kids say the darnedest things! But they always call it like they see it.
I'm an elementary Art teacher, and I'm used to being unintentionally insulted by the younger kids. (one day I was wearing red lipstick, and a student walked in and cheerfully said "You look like a clown!" as if that was a good thing.)
Anyways, school staff wear photo ID badges, and the photo on mine is from September. Since then I've lost about 25 pounds, mostly in the last few months.
Well, one of the kindergarten students looked at my badge and asked who's picture it was. I said, "That's me." He looks up at my face, then points at the badge and says, "But that face is fat!". :D I just laughed and said thanks, but of course he didn't realize he'd given me a back-handed compliment. It made me smile all day!
I guess my weight loss is starting to show!:yay:

That's great! Kids are so darn brutally honest....it's awesome when that honesty makes us feel so good! :)

Kid compliments are great.

When DSS was in kindergarten he was telling me about his new friends. He described one boy as being "like my mom". I was confused, so I asked what he meant. He said, "You know, his tummy sticks out to here" as he stuck his hands out about a foot from his body. I told him that those of us who are big like that don't appreciate those comments and he said "but you're not fat like my mommy". Umm, okay... (yeah, inside I was doing a happy dance, I admit it). Tact is a lost concept on this kid.

I have a nephew who is 26 years old now. But when he was a little tiny kid, he had his arms around my mom's leg and said, 'Grandma? Grandma?' She says, "Yes?" and he said proudly, "You sure have big jeans!"

Last week, my 5 year old got mad at me because I wouldn't let him watch TV before school. He crossed his little arms and yelled, "Well, YOU look like a TEENAGER!" I smooched him up. :)

BTW, Genki, congratulations on 25 pounds!

hehehe..i''m a preschool teacher and every year we have a photographer who comes in and takes photos along with a Group Photo. Last year's photo I looked similar to me now but the two before that I was completely different...aka fatter..and our Social worker along with a child in our daycare pointed out another old coworker and said " oh there's Angela"..I was like umm..no its not me....that is Michelle...I'm over 'there'...(Michelle has blonde curly hair as well).. It was hilarious but felt so good! The social worker was amazed and the child was really confused..lol..I said it's me..I just got smaller :).

:lol3: Chelby, that's hilarious! Pretty much the opposite of a backhanded compliment... :D
