Party without the Gluttony

Hello Fellow Readers,
This is a changing moment in the life of Macomom. For the first time, yes, the very first time in my life- I did not use a party as an excuse to gorge myself on food.
I had a casual get together last night at my house. I focused most of my energy on creating really beautiful fruit and veggie trays. I also offered cheeses and crackers, as well as sweets and chocolates, but I put these things in a slightly less prominent position on the buffet.
My strategy, as well as my resolution to myself that I just didn't need it, paid off. I did not eat one sweet! No chocolate, no pastries, no cookies.
I made a conscious decision to have 2 oz of cheese, so I chose the stinkiest, most flavourful cheese I could find.
I survived! I made it through a party without cheating on myself. I made a decision and stuck to it!!!!
I had one half glass of Merlot, and again, had decided this in advance.
Strangely, everyone was appreciative of the fruits and vegetables- I guess my guest suffer from smoe Christmas weight guilt too :)
Thank you for listening, Reader. Happy Holidays!

Good job! Sounds like you were really on top of planning (and then stick to that excellent plan!) And kudos to you for making the healthy choices more attractive to your guests -- I'm sure they were happy about that too!

Great job!
I find that I do much better if I decide before hand how I will handle social gatherings. Then I just do it. Alleviates the guilt entirely!

Way to do it! I love that you provided guests with a healthier option. I also LOVE your idea about putting the sweets in a less than prominent area. GOOD FOR YOU!
