I finally did it I lost my first 50 lbs :carrot: :carrot:
I was so happy when I got on the scale this morning and saw that.
I didn't notice that much of a difference until I put the two pictures together.
I didn't think I would be brave enough to post my pictures online but here it goes before I chicken out:chicken:

You look so much happier! Good Job!!

You started out about where my 16 year old is now. I soooo wish something would click in her mind that would get her motivated. I can't say anything and try to lead by example, but it has totally got to be her that makes the decision...:^:

Keep up the good work, it's worth it!

When I was 17, I moved in with my mom for a year. My dad was a much more stable parent but at the time teenage years were getting the best of him. In 8th grade I was at a high end of normal, but his girlfriend at the time (who had a teenage cheerleader for a daughter) told him he had something to worry about. I was told the ice cream was locked in the deep freezer, made to weigh constantly, he even got onto me if he thought I was eating too many fruits or something. What started as healthy became unhealthy. I became a closet bulimic. I lied about how much my lunches at school were so I could have money to buy junk (then hid it under my bed). It became a power issue.THEN I moved in with my mom....

She said 2 things the whole time I was there. She told me that some foods like greenbeans I could eat forever and not gain. In the same conversation she mentioned that she noticed that I don't eat too much, but I do drink too many sodas (and explained that so many sodas was equal to a pound). That was the only conversation she had with me about weight. She was gentle. She let me lead most of the conversation and she didn't push it. It was more of an informational thing that led me to ask questions without being shamed.

What else did she do? She cooked really great 3 course meals. I thought I was living in heaven. The truth was..she was cooking me up a diet. I didn't even realize it. How great was that? THEN she let me out of the house (my dad was terrified of boys). She encouraged me to find an extra curricular activity (I tried and sucked at gymnastics). She let me go to my Christian hang outs. She let me hang out with friends and go water tubing as much as I wanted. The end result was the weight was falling off and I didn't know it until I walked into a doctor office one day and the nurse made a comment. WOAH! I had fun, ate great and wasn't shamed and my weight came off!!! I learned a lesson. I had to go on and learn more lessons from my mom after that. I started asking about foods, etc. I was motivated now. I kept that weight off (it was slow and it was habit) until I had my first child.

I do feel so much better, mentally and physically! It really is amazing how much more confidence you get just by loosing some weight.

I was heavy at her age also but the summer before my freshman year I decided I liked boys more than food and I lost the weight...;) You are right, she is the one that is going to have to decide for herself that its time..Unfortunatly its hard with kids today to say the right thing when it comes to weight. I wish you both luck!
