I decided, for me, the thing is to journal everything. I journal every bite, every morsel, every treat... I also own what I do... I did the fro-yo because I wanted to... why? Do I feel like I need to reward myself? Is it an emotional thing because I want to treat my kids? These past few weeks (with being on stabilization) I've come to realize that, while treats are okay in moderation, I need to limit it to once per month or so... occasional treats. And, THEN, I schedule in more exercise to try to combat some of what I'd done. |

You are training very hard and you've had success on the program.. so as long as you know that you have to "fix it" somehow (Metaquick or whatever) then do what you need to do and don't beat yourself up.

Onderland!
A tiny moment to rejoice......I made it to Onderland :cp:. Haven't seen that number in a long while.
|
I forgot to take my supplements and vitamins at lunch, will this hurt me?
|
can anyone tell me what Onderland is? I've been trying to figure it out but I think I just did, is it made it to the one hundreds?
|
Fluffy You read my mind and what's funny is when I saw that I was thinking I had posted a response because I meant to but work interrupted me :). My DH and I care for his elderly parents. dad in law has cancer and mum in law has Alzheimer's and live close to us. Good days and bad days. I liked following the MRC diet because at least I was getting healthy and at least had control over what I ate. Walking helped a lot too in reducing stress.
|
Nyght - Onederland is a GREAT feeling. Enjoy it and keep up the good work.
AW - yes onderland is being under 200 |
anjy99 - My counselors have never discussed ketosis. Could you elaborate a little bit on how they explained it to you and what the cheats do, please? Exactly how many carbs do you have to eat per day to kick you out of ketosis? And what are they considering cheats? I've googled this all before, but I think that I will do a little more research myself.
Anyone have time to explain Metaquick briefly? They have never discussed that either. When I asked what I should do if I strayed from the green diet, the counselor just said to get back on it the next day. That's it. I asked if I could go back to the yellow diet and kind of start over and they said no. That puts your body in starvation mode and you should only be on the yellow diet maybe twice a year. Anyone else heard that? I wish that there was a MRC site that explained the science behind all of this better. Has anyone's center been helpful in this regard? |
Hello
Hey all,
I am new to this site and i am already in love! I am hoping that someone might that the copies of the MRC menus? Money is a little tight at the moment but i am tyrint o still figure out a way to do this plan! I hope someone might be able to help me out! |
I weigh in tomorrow and I'm nervous this might be my first WI without a loss. The scale at home hasn't moved much (185 - 186, always 2-3 lbs heavier at the center). I think I've been eating too big of portions, but I'm always so hungry, even if I have four HNS's.
One thing I am excited about is they are moving my center. The new location is good and they are giving away big prizes throughout the week. I hope to win a box of HNS's or something I can use :) |

I think that we started at about the same time and last week I went through a period where I didn't lose much. I've tried to change up what I eat a little bit more and I started taking the Big 3 (MRC-6, cortislim, phentratrim). I think that it helped. I'm hungry a lot too in the afternoon/evening, so I just have to get out of the house, etc. to think of something else. I used to be a "grazer" when I was in the house and that habit is hard to break!! This has to get better, doesn't it? Let's just keep trying hard to stay on diet and keep moving. How lucky for you that your center is having prizes! I had heard of one center that offered half off the program! Free HNS would be good too. |
talk me down??
I really, Really, REALLY want some Golden Flake potato chips....

I do Metaquick for a couple of days after having a very off plan weekend, or if I've hit a little plateau, and it usually helps me jumpstart my weight loss again. Ketosis is when your body is burning your fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates, and my understanding is if your eating perfectly on plan your body will transition into a state of ketosis, but eating any extra fat/carb/sugar or drinking alcohol will bump you back to a carb burning state for anywhere from 2-7 days. 2nd thing: I also get really hungry in the evening, and my consultant suggested a 2 step approach. I take my MRC Glucose at 4PM instead of with dinner, and I include a scoop of super veg in my HNS afternoon snack. Both of these have helped me tremendously. Good luck! (Sorry for the wall of text!) |
OSUBeavergal - Thanks for the info. But now I have more questions.
I would like to figure out exactly how many carbs/sugars will kick you out of ketosis. I didn't know that fat was going to cause that much of a problem too. How did you know that you needed MRC Glucose? My guess is that you were tested. My glucose levels have always been fine when I've had a physical. and what is super veg? I've never heard of it. What is it's purpose and does it have a flavor? |

It's helped a lot. It's not like the glucose tabs that people take when their blood sugar is low, it's a mix of vitamins and chromium. Super Veg is a supplement you need if you're doing the Metaquick, it helps make up for the lack of veggies you're getting in while on the restricted plan. Super Veg tastes like mint, and takes some getting used to. I only like it mixed with the green tea/cran HNS, and can't really stomach it otherwise. There's also a Super Fruit and Veg, which I just got today, and it tastes like strawberry. It's pretty good. They're both just powdered veggies, they help me stay full and not become so crazy with hunger in the evenings. |
Sots mom Those greasy nasty things??? Ewwwww. Imagine those clogging up your arteries and sticking to your hips. Carbs are the devil!!!!! :). Am I too late??
|
bigdog, you make me smile :)
You are not too late...I did not eat them, I don't even have any in my house....I saw a commercial, and my mouth started watering, and I could't get them off my mind...amazing how that works, huh? Thanks for coming to my rescue and reminding me why I don't want them. You are awesome as usual!! |
inches lost
Had my Thursday Weigh In-Down another .4lbs. still going in the right direction. Also did new measurements, down 11.75 inches !! :woohoo: !! I have been carrying around my piece of ribbon all day, such a great motivator. I started an Art Journal for my weight loss journey, tonyght. I'm hoping it will help keep me on track.

Hey, Ladies! Remember me? It's been a while since I've posted. I think I'm ready to jump back in.
In a nutshell, I've felt very lost lately and feared I may be sinking back into depression. I thought a few weeks back things were getting better after having going through two bouts of the norovirus and a middle ear infection. Then, at work, we found out that our new owners were going to be laying off about 25% of our workforce, roughly 40 people. I was one of the "lucky" ones who got to stay, but a lot of my friends weren't so lucky. It's weird not having them here. It has been high stress every day wondering if you will be walked to HR and be asked to sign your good-bye papers and shown the gate. As I sit here typing this, I was just notified that someone else is gone. Fun times, right? Anyway, a couple of days ago I made the decision to take control back over what I had control of...my diet. I've done good the past two days and today. I'm doing a cross between the green menu and maintenance menu. I haven't touched the scales in a couple of weeks. I decided to wait until Sunday to see how much damage I've done and also it's TTOM. I'm still fitting in my jeans so hopefully it's not too bad. Anyway, that's what's going on in my world. It's great to see so many taking the plunge and joining MRC. You will not regret it! |
Good to "see" you, JenB! Sorry about the difficulties at work... sometimes we need to be reminded that our job is work... it's what we do and not who we are. I came from an extremely high-stress job to working for family now. Granted, I make less money - but I'm there for my kids, I don't have to travel nearly as much and I get an extra day off per week. I also don't cry on the way home from work or have knots in my stomach at the end of the day ... it's a nice change.
Anyway, glad you're taking control! You're where you need to be! I'm doing alright - slip up here and there but back to re-adjusting and correcting and moving on! |
Jen, completely understand! i've seen so many laid off in my field (newspaper sales) and the employees that are still working have to wear even more hats! (so to speak). i'm sure you are as committed to your job as you are to your success with MRC so prob. don't have anything to worry about. it is sad to see others leave... one of my former coworkers was inviting me to a former employee party! and i was like, why so i can listen to everyone bash the company i will have to say some of who were employed complained all the time and would even post things on FB (hello??) anyway, my wise brother in law always says, it's a JOB, why do you think they pay you for it!!! LOL
|
Jen, I was just thinking of you earlier today, wondering what happened to you! I have been through that lay-off thing myself. And this week in my office we had a lockdown - because a former employee is suing and made threats. This stuff is real. Very stressful for us emotional eaters.
If you are open to advice, I would suggest you get on that scale right away and face the music. Two weeks is too long! You used to weigh constantly! I remember when I first got on here there was a conversation about how much morning pee weighed! Do you remember that? Really glad to hear you have been back in control of your food for the past few days. We control what we can, right? The harder part is not letting the things we can't control control us. So Don't forget who you are: you are JenB72, that smokin hot mama in the red dress who lost 80 frickin' pounds. Ok? |
went to WI yesterday & I am down 11.5 pounds!!!!! so excited & I got to sign the 10 pound lost board
|
Ugh, we just had a round of layoffs as well, and I had a terrible dream about it last night. I'm not really loving my job at the moment, but I do need it. I keep searching and applying, but I can't seem to catch a break. I am thankful I still have a job though.
I don't think I'd do very well on the Metaquik, from what it sounds. I don't like substituting real meals with bars and shakes, but I am going to just eat a lot "cleaner". I did show a loss of 3 pounds yesterday! I'm concerned that it was because I weighed in before eating that day. Hopefully I will still lose on Tuesday (and win some prizes!!). I will say, when I indulge in a vodka beverage, I don't eat my starch at dinner. I'm hoping switching it out will keep me in ketosis. I need to stay away though, but it's hard with all of these summer social activities! And I really like alcohol :( |
yes, Jen, you are the hot chick in the MRC ads!! and our leader! your newspaper ad is on my bulletin board in my office for inspiration!
Sonnyrae, i've heard if you have a cocktail, leave out a starch and fruit for the day. i had a lite margarita the other night on the deck...instead of stressing out over work all night, i was like...hmmm...alot of people drink wine every night (i'm a weekend social drinker) so i had some lite margarita mix (10 cal) and a shot of tequila. it was great and i didn't gain. :-) most of my coworkers are on anti depressants and anxiety meds - my doc advised me to exercise and get my heart rate up to increase serontin (sp?) and a cocktail wouldn't hurt! i love my doc. i cant do meds.... hey, i need some new things to fix for dinner and lunch...i'm getting in a rut pretty much eating alot of the same things. lately the weather has been so hot (115 heat index today) and i've been so slammed at work, so i've been eating greek yogurt, strawberries, my vanilla bean protein powder shakes ....salads w/ flank steak...my eggs (scrambled or fried in Olive Oil Pam), grapefruit, oranges..... my DH made some excellent homemade salsa from our veggies out of the garden..that i've been putting on the flank steak...,at least one protein bar a day (i'll take a couple bites to get my choc. fix a few times a day!) i know that isn't following plan...i'm not losing, guess i'm stablizing... was starving last night and we went out - had a couple slices of veggie thin crust pizza w/ tons of artichokes and i had to have a couple mich ultra beers (i'm in sales!! enough said) anyway, guess my variety is my Syntrax shakes...my cappucino latte tub should be in today -yay! i added some of the vanilla bean torte powder to the non fat greek yogurt yesterday - OMG, it's sooooooooo good! sometimes i add a little cinnamon. let me know what you guys are eating, drinking - i need some new ideas. For those that are at companies w/ layoffs, just stay positive. i've had some good friends/coworkers laid off and i've written personal references for them and even got two of them a job with another company. i do remind them that i do need my job and will not stand for any bashing of my company. may not be true w/ your coworkers, but i've found the ones that left weren't really happy anyway and after a while were happy w/ new positions and glad they were forced to make a move. it is tough out there. i worry because i'm older and the older employees seem to be the ones that are let go. Try to not let it get you down. i always remember what my brother says, it's a job, that's why they pay you to do it. (haha, he's a comedian) Congratulations to all you losers out there!!! |

I was motivated by the info m y counselor gave me about bodyfat and how for maintaining it is important to get the bodyfat below 30 (Lower for younger women). Interestingly, in that subsequent 8 pound loss, my bf went down 3% which she said was really good.
But for about the last 6 weeks I've just been playing around with the same few pounds: down 2, up 1...etc. I was thinking that meant I should start to stabilize before I got too discouraged. But yesterday the counselor encouraged me to refocus again. In 3 months I am going to Italy and I MUST be stabie then, so she suggested staying strong OP for July, stabilizing in Aug, and having a month of maintenance before my trip. That sounded sensible to me. she said if I really worked it on MetaBalance I could be down 8 pounds. I'm thinking maybe 5. Sometimes I wish I were more like the people who buckle down and never go off program. It does work and it works fast when you are compliant. But that's never been me. I like my happy hours and my social dinners with friends and yes, my had-a-crappy-day glasses of wine. I think I am learning how to have those things and then get right back on the bus, which is what real life actually is like. So as a result, this is taking a long time. Sometimes that's ok with me, and other times not. Right now I am coming back around to it being ok. I am still 30 pounds lighter, a size 10-12, exercising regularly. Hellooooo, I have biceps now. So, July here we come. Glad you all are along. |
I have a question, My husband has issues with the cost of the HNS's & right now we are catching up on bills so we don't have a lot of extra money and he is working his bootie off working (he is a beer distributer and has lost 20 lbs in the last 2 months just from his job alone, LONG hours which in turn turn into good money but not if you divide it into what he makes an hour) I was thinking of doing program using 3 HNS's a day and then supplementing the 2 extra HNS with my own protein powder (GNC amplified wheybolic extreme 60, 93 calories, 20g protein, 0.33g fat, 0.66g sugar, 1.16g carbs, 83mg sodium) I haven't yet because I don't want it to mess with my program & I don't want to ask my counselor because lets face it they want you to only use their protein products. what do you guys think?
he also claims that he didn't know it was going to cost an extra 200ish dollars a month for the HNS's even though he was sitting in the room with me for my consultation and my first appt when I signed up, he blew up the other day when he saw my box of HNS's because we have no money & he needs money for tires and other crap & he's working his butt off for nothing, makes me wish I had been as big of a butt when I was making more money then him (which has been for at least the last 4 years up until May 1) |
You are right that your center will discourage you from using products purchased elsewhere. It's how they make money. But maybe as long as you are buying some, they will be supportive. Other people on these boards have chose to not let on to their counselors that they are doing this, so that's another option.
I think the bigger issue is how you and your husband are communicating. If he really was with you at the consultation then why doesn't he know about the cost of the HNSs? If you truly don't have the money for this, then why did you sign up? I am assuming that since he went with you it was a joint decision. At 5'4" and 300+ pounds, your health is seriously at risk. If he wants a lifetime with you as his wife, then he needs to recognize that your weight is dangerously high and will have major health consequences sooner or later. Like heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and more. if you feel you need the support of a place like MRC to lose weight, then you need to tell him so. All of us need the support of the people we love. Ask for it. And commit to the program so he can see this is an investment worth making becuase you are getting healthier, not to mention more beautiful and sexy! Good luck. |
Hey AW. Use the GNC protein powder to supplement the HNSs but just don't tell the counselor. I bought 2 boxes of HNSs the entire 17 weeks of membership...they didn't like it though. Didn't buy any pills either except for phenatrim but didn't use it. I was successful just with the plan and weighing in every week. I told the manager I had my own protein powder after I went to the food class and they told me I'd have to spend $200/mth. They did not discuss this in my consultation. The mgr told me they couldn't offer me a guarantee since I wasn't buying their pills or products but I didn't care. I paid $400 including the phenatrim and that was enough in my opinion. I order syntrax powder from diet direct to use for the HNSs. I started out w the protidiet pink lemonade in the large container. If they sold the stuff in large containers I would have bought them from the center
Just make sure you stick w the plan and take advantage of the counseling and classes they offer so you benefit from everything they offer. :). Good luck! |
The Syntrax cappuccino w ice and water in my blender tastes just like an Arby's jamocha shake!,,,yum
|
...uh oh...
A really bad off plan Saturday. We're talking pizza, theater popcorn, wings, blooming onion, and NO WATER AT ALL....Oh well..... :( A good time was had by all.
Tomorrow is another day and I will hit it hard! And I already know big dog...carbs are the devil!! |
Sotsmom. Start drowning that devil ;) with water!! Chug a lug and get right back on plan. I had boiled peanuts, rosemary triscuits and hummus on the boat today. I'm drinking water now !! Since I retain water like a bit%# And also planning on walking the beach tomorrow for more activity
|
Aw8, ever since I replied to your post it has been bugging me that I may have overstepped. If I offended you, I apologize. When Bigdog said she wasn't told about the $200 HNS cost at the consultation either, I got to thinking - first that it is a very shabby MRC sales tactic - and second, it you really weren't told, then your husband has a right to be upset, no matter how much he supports your efforts to get the weight off. I had interpreted your post to mean he doesn't really support you, that new tires were more important than your health, and that was not really fair of me. Please accept my apologies.
Camaswa |
Camaswa. We appreciate your honesty and telling us like it is :). Remember when I bought those miniature peppermint chocolate candies and posted I was just going to have a few a day. You were like, really? Is that really smart to have that temptation around?? As much as I tried to justify it. --- you were right. I thought about them every minute and ate them all in a few days!!! I think with me being from a big family w five kids - we always bought in bulk so I didn't ever get the individual serving sizes they sell at the center.
I buy generic most of the time and since my DH is addicted to Oreos -stock up when they are on sale. Haha. I even justify the cost of my loved Syntrax powder with the fact that I'm not eating out as much. But like you said, being overweight is a health risk and will cost you more in medical bills, etc so this is an investment in your health and well being. AW. You will need the support of your husband and your counselor can even advise you on how to do that. I usually wouldnot tell my DH becuz he's a chef and all about food. The MRC plan is so different I had to tell him and his support really helps me. Not to say he doesnt whine when I do not want to eat out 4 times a week!! Or tempt me with "devil" food  or lose weight in a week which would take me a month!!! Or eat popcorn and Oreos every single night that makes me want to slap him silly. Anyway. So not fair men have more muscle!! I'm just happy with my cappuccino latte shake. Yay |
Well, I am tired from cooking today. But all my breakfasts, lunches, and snacks are all cooked packaged and ready to be grabbed before heading out to work, for the next 4 days. It took some time to plan/cook, but it will help me stay on track. I also have weigh in tomorrow. Not sure I am looking forward to it. I have stayed on plan, but with the humidity here, I am retaining water like crazy. :(
