Are there any great iphone apps that anyone is using to help them on this journey?

I use Lose It! and its working well for me. My Fitness Pal is also popular. Both of them are free so you could try out each and see which you prefer.

With the newer version of Lose It app - you should be able to scan the barcodes with Iphone - haven't figured out how to use yet!

Update...I've been using Fitness Pal and really like that I can scan barcodes in to the program!
