Another Newbie

Have room for one more? I recently found this board and the counselors at MRC thinks it may be just what I need.

I'm actually an MRC vet. I hit my goal weight before, but when I got into a skiing accident on my honeymoon and I started traveling for work, the pounds started creeping up again. I was in the process of losing the weight again in 2009 when I got pregnant. Woohoo! However, I had a difficult pregnancy (complete with 6 weeks hospital bedrest) and let's just say that the in spite of trying to lose the weight in 2010, my head just wasn't in it.

So, here we go again! I'm ready to lose the baby weight!!!

Happy Friday!!! :)

JenB72,
Your story sounds very similar to mine! Welcome back! I hope that this time around, it works for you. I am currently having trouble with "my head being in it" right now! Can't find my motivation and have to keep starting over! Good luck to us all!

Momma2four,
I just read your post and we are sooo alike. I too blamed it on the baby, but deep down, I knew it was me too. To compound matters I was put on 6 weeks bed rest before my daughter was born. When you have nothing better to do, that whole bag of Kisses looks really good. I would even hide my sweets from the nurses. I called it "baby jail." ;)

Love it! I was in "baby jail" too-on bed rest for a month before he was born! Yep, the weight just packed back on, and as glad as I am to have him, I am not happy with the weight. And yes, it is my very own fault! I did NOT have to eat everything in sight. I had a much better day yesterday and saw some results on the scale this morning, so that is keeping me motivated today. Gotta do this just one day at a time, I guess!

I always try to remember that motivation is an emotion - it comes and goes. You can't depend on it. Choices. Determination. Making the right choice day after day without waiting to "feel like it." That's where it's at.

I'm finally starting to "get" this. I have a habit of waiting until I "have the energy" to do things... not just with exercise or weight loss related things, but with many things in my life.

Recently I started reading the book "The Happiness Trap". The book lists a bunch of myths about happiness. One of them was a true "aha" moment for me... The myth was - "To Create a Better Life We Must Get Rid of Negative Feelings". The book points out that the things we generally value most in life bring with them a whole range of feelings, both pleasant and unpleasant.
