Additional Protein Drinks
Hey guys!
I was doing really well on my weight loss (3.9 pounds/week) and the people at my local MRC said I should try to add more protein drinks into my diet for even better results. At the time, I was drinking 2 per day (no creamy). Last week, I started doing 3 or 4 per day (one per day of which is a creamy) and I've only seen the scale budge 1/2 pound. I thought perhaps my muscle mass had increased, but they told me it was the same. So, here's the deal. Does anyone have an opinion one way or another about the drinks? Is 2 fine? Is 3 optimal? Is 4 excessive or ideal? Have a terrific and OP rest of the week! |
I believe you should max on your hns (4 per day on green), as this promotes a faster loss. I always thought of it as my "weight loss juice." Although I am thinking that having a creamy each and every day might not be the way to go.
Do you have any tips as to when to sneak in the extra HNS?
one after breakfast, one after lunch, one around 4 PM, then one a little before bed time (to help metabolism throughout night)!
When I hit my big plateau the center suggested exactly as Joy2MeNu did. I do one with breakfast, one with lunch, one inbetween lunch and dinner, then one right before bed.
Thanks ladies! I will do.
When I was on green I always maxed out. 3 clear and 1 creamy.
Sorry if this is a repeat question, but the max # of hns is 4 on blue or green menu? I have been getting really hungry at night even though at dinner I am full. I added another hns before bed and am drinking an average of 140oz of water daily. I think it is time to start my fiber drinks. Can the fiber slow us down on weight loss?
Yes, 4 is max. Sometimes, when you get really hungry, it means you're getting ready to have a weight drop. I found this to be true over and over during my weight loss journey. It's like my body was saying, "Come on, you're not really serious about this are you?" :D No, the fiber won't slow you down. They're pretty feeling. Just hang in there, it gets easier, I promise!!

By the way, how often do we get measured? I know that I can request it any time, but is standard every 15 days, or is that just for the first month and then every 30 after that? I was beyond thrilled with my measurements after 15 days, so I'm hoping I'll have stellar results on Friday (30 days, baby!). |

Fiber is supposed to assist you in weight loss. I just started mixing them with my HNS. I am stuck in my house due to snow and ice so I can't get to the center to WI or buy some more. They are definitely filling. I believe I lost 5 more lbs this week...yay :carrot: |
Yay! 5lbs is def. awesome. I love the fiber fill taste. I just wasn't sure if it would slow me down if you know what I mean. :)
Ill be completely honest with you, and this is just MY personal experience. Before these last 2 weeks I have been maxing out my protien drinks every day since I started program in Nov 2010, and I have constantly for the most part lost 3-4lbs a week. well...for the the last 2 weeks I have stopped buying drinks completely, and I have contunied to lose 3-4lbs in a week.
I flat out asked my center is the drinks will slow my weight loss down their answer was "The drinks are only in place to keep you from losing lean muscle". So take that as you may, for me, they did not change my weight loss by stopping taking them. I am going to contunie to not buy them because I am tired of giving them $100 a week for drinks that in my opinion, don't help me lose anymore weight. But again, this is just my opinion :) from my personal experience :) |
Glammy or anyone... did you stop taking the drinks and they quit their services? I know you sign something stating that you will take the minimum HNS weekly at the beginning...
You really do need the protein from the drinks, or this diet may not be for you. It is VERY low calorie - 800-900/day including the HNS. You absolutely will lose lean muscle, even more if you don't drink the HNS. If you don't want to spend money on them, I would suggest finding another diet that has a higher overall calorie count. Losing lean muscle while losing a lot of weight will get you "skinny fat." You'll be thin, but with a high body fat percentage - similar to an anorexic.
