Just curious

Whenever you "cheat" or choose to go off plan, are you up front with your center about it, or do you worry how they will react and keep it to yourself? If you have been up front with them about a slip up, how did they react to it?

I've done it both ways...admitting it and full on lying about it. If it's one cheat, once and little, nothing earth shaking...i don't tell them. I am pretty honest about my meals, if I eat lasagna, I'll put that in there, but if it's a snack between meals, like a bite of this or that...thats when I don't tell. They don't love when a meal is off, but depending on the consultant they aren't too hard on me. I don't like the consultant that makes a big deal out of me eating two breadsticks instead of one or a half of one. I feel like I"m human and sometimes I'm just not gonna be perfect.

Also...if i'm traveling and am not intending to eat on plan, I tell them that too. They aren't my Mommy, so they can't tell me no, though they discourage it of course. They'll try to sell me a fat/carb blocker, which i don't want (i think its cheating) and tell me to stay on top of my water. I don't keep a food log when I travel either FYI.

Exactly how I'm doing it. Even though I've only been on the program 3 weeks I'm really trying hard not to slip up. When I go off plan for one meal I'm upfront about it because I'm not perfect either. The girls at my center are understanding and supportive about it. We went to the lake last weekend and I had 2 drinks. When I told the girls I had alcohol they asked "Was it worth it?" and I said "uh, yeah!" and they were ok with that since it was my choice. :)

I don't like to call it "cheating", I consciously choose to eat off program. And yes, I am always up front with the center - I will say "well, this weekend is my husband's birthday so I am choosing to eat as I wish to celebrate with him".

I don't call it cheating either...it's eating, not cheating. There's nothing wrong with eating. There are just consequences to what we choose to eat. Thats important to remember or it sets up all kinds of self-image and eating-related complexes that are hard to overcome. Food guilt is just as unhealthy as being overweight in my opinion. If we can't learn to have a healthy relationship with eating, we will never ever stay at a healthy weight or be happy with how we eat.
