I can definitely tell in the way my clothes fit, but I'd REALLY like the scale to show more...we are just never happy, are we?

Your inch loss is great though!!! Keep your head up.

Well, I'm off tomorrow for 5 days in the warm sun of Phoenix (hopefully the rain will be gone -- lol) to relax and swim and read. I'm planning to do Metaquick those 5 days, have my shakes and HNS all packed up, then I can enjoy one meal out, hopefully of a good salad and chicken or fish and a ton of water. I'd be happy just to maintain. I feel pretty confident that I'll be able to do that, because I'm the only one who will make the decisions. So, will check back Tuesday when I return. Hope you all have a nice few days OP.

Have fun in AZ, Deb. Soak up some sun for those of us stuck in the rain here at home :) I've never done meta-quick...I've heard good things though.

MGunz 03-10-2010 01:28 PM

Just for curiousity sake what is Meta-Quick?

Hvnlymzic 03-10-2010 03:09 PM

Meta-Quick is an alternate menu that can be used sparingly, usually when suggested by the center, that consists of a meal replacement shake or bar for breakfast and lunch and then an on plan dinner.

Thanks Sam! I used to do Metaquick a lot ... not for weight loss, but for convenience with a crazy schedule. I never lost while on it, but did maintain. (But I have heard of others who have had good luck with it.) I've found some shakes that are a little different from the center's. I'm pretty carb-sensitive, and the shakes at the center had way too many carbs in them for me. So I found some that are otherwise comparable, but with less than 1/2 of the carbs. So I will rely on the shakes and max out the HNS. I can't do the bars (although I ADORE the cinnamon ones, but they are a trigger food for me).

Metaquick is allowed 7 days out of the month ... my center always said they should be all in a row, but I know other's have said their center said it didn't matter. So, who knows .... different consultants -- different advice.

I had my first weigh in today in almost a week and was only down 1.5 pounds. I've been on program 26 days (+2 preconditioning) and am only down by 9 pounds total. My average so far 2.25 lb's a week and I'm frustrated that it's not higher. I was really hoping to lose quicker at first to boost my average.

I'm maxing out my HSN's, i've drank 8+ glasses of water every day, I've only had a couple times that i've not been able to get exact portions of protein/veggie being at restaurants, but it's actually this last week that I slowed down the most and have cooked my own meals every time. I've been eating 1 ounce of cheddar with tortilla with breakfast and dinner, so today she told me to try only doing cheese twice a week and to up my water.

I really want to boost my average before I leave for peru in 4 weeks and have a work trip to SF next week so i think I'll do the meal bars most of the time there.

Any other advice?

I'm a newbie, but I've been reading a gazillion posts on here and it seems like when people up their water intake to 100-120+ ounces a day, the weight starts coming off more. In addition to lower the cheese/sodium intake and maxing on HNS's, I've heard people limit their creamies too.

My guess is, just making your own food instead of leaving it in the hands of restaurants, you could easily drop more weight. I've worked in restaurants and getting the kitchen staff to truly honor my customers requests was difficult. Most of them spoke Spanish and it was rough with the language barrier or they just really didn't care about or understand what the concerns were... so you can never fully trust that they followed your instructions.

Good luck!

I saw my loss increase when I increased my water intake to 128 oz a day - it about killed me as I didn't think I could drink another glass, but I definitely saw the difference (jumped to a 4lb loss that week - then steady at 3 lb a week) and switched up my exercise (4 days a week varied)

GoalAug2010 03-11-2010 10:40 AM

thanks, I'm shooting for 100 oz today and we'll go up from there!

*sigh* Another long week...with a gain at my WI. All my fault...ate meals out almost every night this week...due to crazy circumstances. Most of them were technically OP, but it's never weighed and prepared with lots of salt, etc. Oh well. This too shall pass... The consultant offered a fat and carb blocker to me, but I turned it down, as I do all the extra supplements. I'm starting to think ahead to when I'm done with MRC (not that thats soon) and want to try to tailor my plan into things that I can continue after I'm done with MRC. I'm gonna finish out my MRC-6, but then I'm even thinking of letting that go. I want to know that if I gain a little holiday weight 5 years from now, that I'll be able to lose it again without a crutch like a fat/carb blocker. I don't know...I just feel like if I eat crap and gain...thats my fault. I want to work with my body, not try to cheat it. EH...whatever. I'm having a weird day.

It's not quite 1pm and i just finished 8 cups, and now i'm going into overtime! whew! It's not as hard as I thought to get above 64oz!

dkmd27 03-11-2010 04:25 PM

(((Sam))) .... Sounds like you're just at the end of the winter doldrums ... just think -- spring is just around the corner, the time change this weekend, we'll get to be outside more and more activity. You hang in there -- I know it can be wearisome to always have to think about this food or that food or is it "legal" or not .... give yourself a big hug and know that this is a new day, and the scale doesn't dictate everything.

I know that I wax and wane in my enthusiasm about the program, but I have always felt that I needed it to work over the long haul for me. On our first go-round, I lost at the rate they said and never ate anything off program ..... BUT I did not give up my two favorite beverages ... I continued to drink my diet Mt Dew and continued to use sugar-free vanilla coffee creamer, and it never impeded my loss.

This time, things are a lot slower -- but I know it's because my body is so pissed at me for gaining a lot of the weight back (my metabolism will take a while to trust me ... lol). So this time, I'm not freaking out if I have a meal that isn't quite OP, and I'm feeling content to go at a slower pace, hoping that this time I am doing something I will continue with even when I get to goal. These reasons are some of why I don't use the extra supplements, because I've always felt that if I needed them to lose it, I didn't have much of a chance to keep it off. (once again, that's just me, I'm not saying that for anyone else)

But, you will pick back up, you always do such a good job and are such an inspiration to others ... so we've got your back!!

Waiting for my plane ......... yippee
