Melba

Hey All -

I just started pre conditioning today. And maybe I am just slower than slow, but what is Melba toast? Googling it came up with a whole lot about an Australian singer liking thing toast :-) Are they just referring to eating half a piece of bread? That seems silly.

Thanks!

cmb9697 01-03-2010 07:30 PM

lol... no melba toast is like a cracker. I find it at superwalmart by the crackers.

JessicaM121 01-03-2010 07:55 PM

Good to know I will check the cracker aisle! Thanks!

I love those too...they are delish!

I like the garlic ones too, but I recently found white cheddar ones in Publix, with a $1.00 off coupon when you buy 2 boxes, and they were 2 for $4. Great deal! Yum.

I live in Fayetteville and our local walmart/harps carries only the sea salt, garlic and normal melba, I would love to know where in NWA you buy the Spicy 3 Pepper melba.

Tks

So sorry, I didn't realize I was asked this question...

LOL. I'm kind of embarrassed to answer this but I will...:o
I get them at a bent and dent store that sells expired bent and dented boxes and cans. This is the ONLY place I've found them.. BTW they are unopened and haven't been expired for to long.

Hey, I'm all for it...don't apologize...I saw a great report on such stores on CNN and how one can save a tremendous amount of money shopping in these stores and they are on the rise...didn't know we had on in NWA...do you want to share the name?

sherriebaby2009 01-27-2010 09:40 AM

I also live in Fayetteville, AR and would love to know about the bent and dent store..

So how many melba can you have? I'm on the beige menu? it doesnt really say HOW MANY!

leigh34 01-27-2010 10:19 AM

Jenny2364 - you are allowed 1 serving for starch which according to the box is 4 rounds or 2 toasts (i believe - I usually only get the rounds).

jenny2364 01-27-2010 10:45 AM

Oh okay THANK YOU!

sherriebaby2009 01-27-2010 03:43 PM

I was told by the center to only eat three per serving .. I'm on the green menu...

learning2Bhealthy 01-27-2010 06:48 PM

The store isn't in this area. It's actually in Huntsville, AR. (where my sister lives). There is also another in Eureka Springs, AR. The Melba Toast cost .59 per box. :)

Sorry.. :(

Sherrie...I have a very crazy schedule and workout at FAC 6 days a week... I run before the chickens rise :)...I started running last April a couple of months into the MRC diet and just love it...I am now weight training along with running and am in training for the Walmart/Powerbar half marathon in Bentonville on March 13th...never thought I would ever love running...after 46 years of life :) Keep up the new workout schedule it takes 21 days to make it a habit...I read somewhere... Have you asked at your MRC center if anyone is looking for an exercising partner? I am assuming you go to the Fayetteville center...they have exercise classes there, I have never tried them, but you just might find an exercise partner there...I will probably see you around the center someday...

I hate the name of this store it's WT Focker. HWY 62 going toward Berryville, AR. It'll be on your right. I don't know if this store has the Melba Toast or not. I have only been to this store once.

channeen 03-15-2010 02:37 PM

I knew there were garlic and regular but Cheese and Spicy...I may have to comb the grocery store cracker aisle to find them.

Joy2MeNu 03-15-2010 02:50 PM

I love the sesame!! To me it takes like BACON with my egg and that makes me VERY HAPPY! Old London Foods makes these.

See: http://www.oldlondonfoods.com/aboutus.php

lolajean624 03-16-2010 12:16 AM

I need to look harder - all I've been able to find are the Sesame, Sea Salt Regular and Whole Wheat (of the snacks) and Whole Wheat, Regular and Rye of the Toast!

When I'm really busy, I eat them plus cheese for breakfast!

NotaFatBride 03-17-2010 12:57 AM

I heart melba toast! I usually have 4. My Albertsons carries White Cheddar. So delicious! I haven't asked the center if I can have it but fingers are crossed!
