Vacation Coming and Getting Nervous!
So I am sitting here reading a lot of posts about people going off program for a week or a month and gaining 10, 20lbs! I am freaking out! We are going to Negril, Jamaica next Friday for a week and I intended to enjoy myself hopefully without totally undoing what I have worked so hard for. But it is an all inclusive and I want to be able to drink and eat...what do I do??? I also intend to workout everyday. They have a wonderful fitness area there and the beach would be great to run on every morning. I am going to use the fat/carb blocker but am not sure how much that really works. Please put my fears to rest...am I going to be okay?

Jamaica... wow sounds good. Have alot of fun and you know what, its not about gaining or taking a break, its about knowing that you are doing it and not feeling guilty about it. Guilt will eat away at you during that vacation and after it. So just tell your self: I worked all year long hard to earn this vacation, i am going to enjoy it the best i can and hey if i gain some weight at the end, that means its all good. I know what i have to do to get rid of it again, so no biggy. And honestly the weightgain (IF you gain any), will all be water weight, which your body will loose in a hurry once you get back OP.
Have alot of fun, while the rest of us will suffer from the chilly winds here in NE :/ :) |
Hubby and I went on a vacation while on plan. I lost 11lbs in 2 weeks on vacation because I actually was more active on vacation than i was at home. I stayed married to the plan though.
I'd say if you're more active, that'll help. Walking or running in the sand is an AMAZING workout...and shouldn't we all be so lucky to work out like that :) I'm gonna agree with Nabeel. Try not to stress it too much. If you can eat a meal a day OP, then do it. If you want to do whatever, do whatever. If you want to eat every other day OP, then do that. Just enjoy your time on vacation. :) |
I have always found it easy to low-carb at the all inclusives we have gone to in Jamaica, maybe just that combined with being more active on vacation will keep you from gaining! Enjoy your trip! I'm jealous!!!!

I just got back from Disney World. My goal was to maintain. I was Off Program for most of the week. I tried to limit some fatty foods and bread. I had a few desserts and ate regularly on Thanksgiving. I did maintain. We walked A LOT. My exercise was definately up. I don't think there was a spare area in the parks that we didn't walk. My advice is just to think before you eat. Try to limit the bad things but enjoy yourself. and exercise.
I am actually kind of dissapointed that I didn't stick on program for the trip. I could have had a big loss. I know now for next time. I will stick more OP than off.. Have a great vacation!!! |
I'm going on vacation for Christmas also. I am a little nervous but we will have a kitchen and will be cooking some. My brother is a health nut by choice not because of weight issues so that will be a good motivator. He will be exercising everyday and i will tag along as much as i can. (I can't keep up with him) He also eats very healthy and most of what he eats is OP. I am very nervouse because i have just started. I am 11 1/2 pounds down and don't want to gain. I am taking tuna in pouches and Salmon any other good tips of what i can take with me in my suitcase. Food is extremely expensive on the Islands.

I'm with you all - vacation worries. Unfortunately I'm not headed to the islands - but to my inlaws. My husband and I called and talked to my MIL last night so she would know what was going on and what to expect. I am going to take my "staple" foods with me to have in case of emergency. I don't want her to cater to me, but I didn't want her to be upset or offended if I didn't eat everything she made (especially desserts). My goal for those 2 weeks is to maintain! Good luck to everyone!

Good Luck to you Leigh34! I was at my MIL's weekend after Thanksgiving. I was OP and she had fixed sausage in gravey on to of big fluffly smelly good biscuits with eggs on top of that for my husband. One of his favorites. I wouldn't even go into the kitchen. It smelled so good. Then while i was eating (as soon as they cleared the table) my grilled chicken and salad. Mom was offering me bacon, cheese, biscuits, cookies and pumpkin pie. I finally called my husband in, "Honey, your Mom is out of control. Please come help me." HA his Mom is about 5 feet tall and weighs about 90 pounds, maybe 95... Life is fun. she got it. and she was just mothering me trying to feed me.

I just have to post that everyone on this board is so very helpful and uplifting. I thought I might try a sauna once a week for the water. I retain water terrible even with the B6.
