How about skimfast?
|
Hi lucky8 - I wanted to help you on your skimfast question, but I can't find a single thing about skimfast (google thinks I mean slimfast) - I found some obscure references that seem to indicate they are part of the Atkins plan, but couldn't find any place that sells that product so that I could compare the label to an HNS. So, maybe you've got a box and you can compare it yourself? If so, here's the HNS label (from a Wildberry powder):
Calories 70 Total Fat 0g Cholesterol 0mg Sodium 10mg Potassium 75mg Total Carb 3 g Protein 15g So hopefully that helps you decide if the skimfast is an appropriate substitute. :) |
Since I'm guessing you meant Slimfast, it has too many carbs, unless you can find the low carb one, then the fat content is higher .... I did use Atkins shakes in a pinch, but they are higher in fat too.

I was feeling the pinch after a few months of the HNS, so I started trying some different alternatives. First, I tried the Proteinex stuff from DietDirect. YUCK!! :barf: That was a no-go. One day in Wal-Mart, I happened to check the label on their protein powder and found it was very similar to the MRC drinks. A full scoop of their stuff has 140 calories, 2g of fat, 4g of carbs, and 26g of protein. The label says there are about 27 scoops, so if you cut those in half, you end up with over 50 servies for somewhere around $12. It didn't affect my weight loss and saved me a ton of money in the process

How does it taste, billdo? Is it like a fruit punch mix or something similar? Thx for the tip. May try that when I run out of the 13 boxes of ProtiDiet I just bought. :)
|
They have chocolate, vanilla, chocolate/peanut butter, and strawberry. I typically don't like powders, but I got a cheap hand blender that fixed that problem. I really liked the concentrated MRC HNS (even the wildberry), but it was just too expensive.

The protein powder at walmart, is it a walmart brand, if not what is the brand name, and do you mix it with water, crystal light, skim milk?
|
I just checked my husbands container of his Whey Protein that I had purchased at wal-mart for him. It says " Body Fortress" Super Advanced Whey Protein it is a 2 lb container. It is chocolate flavored. The only difference with the above information is that it is only 130 cal. Hope this helps everyone.
PS - it tells you to mix it with water. |

Thanks for the tip. I ran out to Wal-mart and bought some and it's pretty good. Question: Do you count this as a creamy or a clear? |
