Weight loss surgery (WLS)

  • I was wondering if anyone else on here has had WLS. I had gastric bypass in February of 99. I have felt like such an incredible FAILURE because I gained almost all of the weight back. I finally shared that feeling with one of the consultants at my center--and she said that she had talked to three people that DAY who had previously had WLS. So...if you're lurking and feeling like a total loser (pardon the pun) knock it off!! You're not alone!

  • I see this so much with weight loss surgery. Especially with gastric bypass. Gastric bypass patients loose weight with out all the eating habit changes because of malabsorption with their organs being re-routed. Eventually because the eating habits and portion sizes don't change, the weight comes back. So hard on the body.

I myself have had lapband. I'm 10 months out. And I've had to diet and exercise for this loss. I've seen fellow bandsters gain all their weight back because they don't want to diet. They think the band is the magic ticket. I hope no one gets fooled and thinks weight loss surgery is the easy way, because you still have to diet for long term results.
  • I had gastric bypass in May of '05 lost 120 lbs, got pregnant and here I am. I'm very glad I found and started this program!!
  • Two of my friends had weight loss surgery the same day I started pre-conditioning here. We're going to try to stick together and keep our weight off once we lose it.
