Update: I have been doing IF for almost a week now and lost 3 pounds. I was stuck on the same weight for several weeks and IF helped me get past my plateau.

How is the IF going for you guys? Can you follow a low carb/high fat diet in the 5-8 hour daily window?

On a 24 hour fast can i have a protein shake as well as water?

I've been doing the 8/16 for about two weeks now. The hunger pangs and cravings were INTENSE the first five days. I didn't think I would make it through the night. Fortunately I haven't caved in.

Weight loss is steady and slow but I'm most happy about the fact that I can deal better with feelings of hunger now.

How's everyone doing? Well I got interested in IF through this post and your great results. It seemed like something I could do. I decided to go low carb, less than 20 grams daily and to limit my calories to 1800 per day. Well it's been 7 days and I've lost 9.4 lbs. and my blood sugar was 104 this morning, much better than the high 200's!
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their knowledge and accomplishments that have been shared here.

amfay11: might be a bit late in responding but in a 24 hour fast you consume nothing only water, protein shakes will spike your insulin in hand stopping fat loss for a few hours or preventing it at least.

lgmongoose: glad IF is going well for you, it's not for everyone but it happens to suit me very well. Keep it up!

I love IF. I follow the LeanGains protocol. I just started yesterday after being off of it for quite a while. It has definitely helped me reach my goals in the past and I'm sure it will help me this time as well. Glad to find an IF thread here!!
