Weekly weigh in 7/22 - 7/28 ???

  • Ok I started this thread in another group here without any interest. They already have a daily thread going on. So how many guys do we have here? Are you interested in keeping a weekly weigh in thread going. We can start one each Sunday with the above subject line and dates. I find it helpful to be reporting somewhere, it helps me keep on track.

If you like the idea we can use this for this weeks. I will weigh in on Friday. I did lose 2 last week. Down 385 to 383.
  • I'm in a weekly thread on the 40-something forum. Last entry was 7/23 at 228.
  • I'm going to continue to do one here just because it does not seem like much action is going on in the mens corner. Anyone who wants to join in can.
  • Good mourning everyone. My weekly weigh in was pretty decent this week, I lost 4 lbs. It feels good to be eating right again.
  • I've lost 10 so as of today and have officially and permanently retired my membership in the 400 club!
  • That is fantastic Supermario! I know what a good feeling it is to get out of 100lb class.
  • I was actually thinking about starting a thread like this today. I am in!

As of today i weigh 270.(Down from 302)

    Congratulations supermario!
  • My weigh ins are Monday. Lost .6 this week. Its getting harder and harder to lose
  • Hey guys.

Sadly i have gained 2lbs this week. I got a little carried away with the portions. But i am back on track and at least i know what to fix.

Hopefully you all have done better than me. :P

And Borgie, wow. 255lbs! Congrats on that.
  • The More You Lose...
Borgie, you are doing fantastic...what a journey! I ran into the same problem of the weight loss slowing down considerably after losing a bunch. Turns out that your base metabolic rate decreases because you're not carrying around all that weight...the daily routine is not burning the same amount of calories.

Unfortunately, what this means is that the more you lose, the more you need to reduce your portions. It also helps to increase your activity level to use up more calories.

Vincentius, you are off to a great start! Portion control will remain a battle, even after you reach your desired weight...it's a life long issue. One technique that helped me was to plan a "cheat day" every few weeks. It's something to look forward to, plan out is detail and execute with gusto! Of course, you have to immediately get back on your program.

    Best to all,
  • Thanks for the tips Wimpster. I have thought about a cheat day, i am just scared that i will go overboard and it will take me a long time to get back on track.

Today i weigh 270, which is 2lbs down from my last slip up, so i am doing ok.

    How about everyone else?
  • I am curious how often everybody weighs themselves? I do a weekly weigh-in every Sunday to keep track how much weight I have lost on a weekly basis. HOWEVER... I can't help but get on the scale AT LEAST 3 or 4 times a day when I am at home. I weigh myself every morning. Then at night, I usually weigh myself early in the evening and once before I go to bed.

One thing that is maddening is that I have a digital scale, and I often do not get the same reading every time I step on it! I usually have to step off and then back on it 5 times to see what weight comes up the most. Sometimes the variation is 2 lbs between the lightest and heaviest weight.

has anybody else become obsessed with weighing themselves? I think my obsession is a combination of fear of gaining weight back / not losing -- and the thrill of seeing the numbers go down. Every time I lose 10 lbs (i.e. when I went from 360.1 to 359.9), I get excited. Its a very addictive feeling. I don't know what I will do if I hit a plateau and the weight doesn't fall off as it is now.
  • I lost 3.4 this week which is good because I gained 4 last week.

This being smaller has increased my social life, and i will indulge in a few beers from time to time and eating out. But thats what life is about. I know now that I can get off the train and get right back on.

I weigh myself 3 times a day. Morning after workout and shower. When i get home from work, and when i go to bed.

Over the last 20 months I kind of know my weight cycles, so if i'm a little heavy after work, i can kind of watch dinner a little more than I normally would. Its worked for me so far so I'm sticking to it!!!
  • I usually weigh myself every morning, but i don't mark it down until the end of the week.
