Medifast/Optavia Journey 2019

Hi all,

I’m pretty sure no one is active on this board anymore so I might be talking to myself. :)

I started Optavia a few years ago, and ended up losing 65 lbs. over the course of about 8 months. Felt and looked great, but then I fell off the wagon. The weight started to slowly creep back up, and I’ve probably managed to gain most (if not all) of it back. Haven’t been on a scale for quite some time, but I know that not much fits anymore.

Sooooo, before it gets even worse, I’m going to get back on the Medifast wagon. Put my first reboot order in online, and I should get the big box this week.

Order #1 & Daily Meals (09/01-09/28)
Meal #1 - 5:00 AM
Chocolate shake - 14
Strawberry shake - 7
Vanilla shake - 7

Meal #2 - 7:30 AM

Meal #3 - 10:00 AM

I am giving myself one more week of indulgence and saying goodbye to all my favorite foods for a while. I plan to do my weigh-in and start Day 1, next Sunday, September 1.

Is anyone else starting (or restarting) the journey? I had a really helpful “village” on this board a few years ago, and it was great to do it with others for accountability!

Much good luck on your restart. Im starting on my first maintenance. So far so good.

Old Biddy 08-29-2019 08:37 AM

Hi TWINCA,

I'm also in maintenance, started very recently. This is a great program! I did as you had done and lost about 37 pounds on Medifast about 8 years ago. I didn't transition properly and in the 8 years managed to gain all that back, plus another 20 on top of that. Argh.

This time I've been on the plan longer, because my weight loss has been slower than it was the first time. This has actually helped me, because I have been able to conquer my overeating demons and have time to analyze my eating behaviors.

Good luck to you!

Ok, so Day 1 is actually today, September 3, 2019.

According to my fancy scale:
DAY 1 (09/03/2019)
Weight: 232.2
Body Fat: 32.5
Muscle mass: 25%
Water weight: 43.1
BMI: 32.4

Meal #1: Chocolate shake (yum!)

LETS DO THIS THING!

Phaedra 09-04-2019 09:51 AM

We are all rooting for you. You can do it.

Im sure Ive said this before someplace. IMO a lot of the "fuelings" taste so much better if you make them in a waffle iron. Some people like the little Dash waffle iron. I prefer my old regular 8" round one. I make four at a time. Eat one now. Save three for later. Brownies are my fav. There are hacks to turn the Buttermilk Cheddar Herb Biscuit waffle into a mini pizza or a grilled cheese.

Thanks, Phaedra. I was on the plan for nearly a year last time so pretty much worked it out. I like consistency during the day since I’m at work, even if somewhat boring. I only ordered the Medifast products this time since I was getting killed on the faster expiration dates of the Optavia products last time.

DAY 1 - 09/03/2019
7:00 AM - Meal #1 - Chocolate shake
9:00 AM - Meal #2 - Apple cinnamon oatmeal
11:00 AM - Meal #3 - Cinnamon pretzels
1:00 PM - Meal #4 - Chocolate pudding
3:00 PM - Meal #5 - Peanut butter crunch bar
5:30 PM - Dinner - Chicken breast with mushroom sauce and steamed green beans

Yay! Go, TWINCA!

I've always stuck to the basic meals, but there are usually hacks you can do to them to jazz them up. I think if you are on Pinterest and do a search you can find some ideas if you get bored with the basics.

I had asked for a popsicle type treat that I could make at home and got this recipe.

I have a 8 portion popsicle form. I use:
One vanilla shake packet
One 5 oz (it may be 5.2 oz) Light and Fit Greek yogurt
Two cups unsweetened/original Almond Milk
one wee packet stevia

I use a whisk, stir that all about and pour it into the popsicle forms. I think the treat is under 80 calories each. You could use other shake flavors, but I just used the plain vanilla with a lemon yogurt.

Thanks for the support Old Biddy and Phaedra. Nice to know I’m not the only one here!

Went back and re-read old posts last night for inspiration. I have my goals in mind, based on weight lost last time around.

TWINCA - you don't have to worry about counting the calories, carbs, protein and fiber if you don't want to. Some people do, because they like to keep track; but the plan is designed that as long as you eat what is recommended and weigh and measure your protein sources and vegs so that you don't overdue, that you don't have to think about the calories.

Make sure you are drinking the daily water recommendation and including approved snacks and healthy fats in there. :)

Sounds like you are on your way!!

TWINCA 09-05-2019 03:46 PM

Ha ha! Thanks. I’m just OCD about things, so am very detail oriented. You can go back and look at the big, long threads from a couple years ago to see that in all it’s glory! LOL.

Hee hee. Some people need that. I understand.

Weigh in updates:
Day 1 (09/03/2019) - 232
Day 4 (09/06/2019) - 228

Down 4 lbs. in 4 days!

Probably just water weight, even though I’m drinking at least a gallon per day, but I’ll take it!

Onward and downward!

There are over 1100 views of this thread. IS ANYONE ELSE DOING MEDIFAST?

Please join in the discussion. Even if you just started, are thinking about starting, or are midway through! It’s much easier going through this program with others!

Phaedra 09-07-2019 07:39 PM

Since Im in maintenance Im not doing much Medifast anymore. Had to quit while I still had some hair. But I can keep you company if you like. :)

Old Biddy 09-08-2019 07:02 AM

I'm working on maintenance as well....but I'll also cheer you on TWINCA.
