Help! Day 14 of TSFL/Medifast and not loosing :(

  • I am SO discouraged right now. Day 14 and I am still at 251. I lost 1.5 pounds the first week. That's it. I am following this plan to a T. And I am LOVING the food. I am LOVING my lean and green. I really wanted this lifestyle to work because I actually love it!

I did have a stomach bug the week before I decided to started. 4 days of bug and no eating and I lost 6 pounds. I immeadialty started TSFL the day after I felt 100% so that I wouldn't binge on a weekend and then start the plan on Monday.

I do feel GREAT. I do feel lighter and my clothes don't hurt as much. But I want to see it on the scale. Has this ever happened to anyone in the beginning? Should I add excersise? I know I need to up my water. I am drinking about 60-80 oz day.

Thanks for any help in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • welcome clarissa! I have two thoughts on this. One is, if you were dehydrated then you would gain back several of those 6 pounds you lost in water when you started to hydrate again. But still I agree there should be some loss in two weeks. Could you post a few days of your menus so we could see if there is anything that could be a culprit? If you could share three or four days of exactly what you are eating (including all drinks, condiments, everything) that might give some insight.

Keep going though, I know the program works!
  • Thanks Stephgetshealthy! My coach says its not enough time to just give up and I don't want to.
Ill post pictures of what my day looks like! its pretty much the same except I will swap out the turkey for chicken. The first two days I did red meat and I haven't done it since then.

    snack-shake with unsweetened almond milk
    **snack- popsicle
    Dinner-bar
dessert- cinnaomon cake with cool whip
  • I am GOING to keep going... just wanted to know if anyone else had results like this and it took longer. Or if I should start Exercising. Of course when I should my friends who work at health food stores, are dieticians and nutritionist they say I am in starvation mode and I don't have enough calories.
  • Hi- I'm certainly not an expert, but consider carefully reviewing the MF condiment list, and the MF healthy fat list, and comparing against the amounts above. Here is the link: https://www.medifastmedia.com/shared...mendations.pdf For example, the amount of avacado is more than the daily allotment for 1 healthy fat (75g is 2.5 oz; only 1.5 oz. allowed). The amount of feta cheese (3 oz.) is more than the allowed 2 oz. There may be others.

Also, you are missing out on your healthy greens. Half a cucumber a day is not enough. At best, that is maybe 1 serving. Here is the link: https://www.medifastmedia.com/shared...tions_list.pdf

If you do not have one, consider buying a food scale. They are pretty cheap, and it may more accurately reflect weights, etc. You really need to measure EVERY single thing, rather than estimating amounts. If not, you can get "hidden" calories that are not being accurately tracked.

Consider foregoing some of the "optionals" for a while, like using all three of the condiments and the optional snack.

Finally, to get you 100% on track, consider getting some of the MF Flavors of Home meals. They are "perfectly packed" L&G meals, and you don't need to worry about the other stuff (for now) that might be getting you off track.

You should definitely NOT exercise. MF says for at least the first 3 weeks. I spoke with my doctor this morning for the first time, and she actually said not until I hit my goal weight and in maintenance.

Like I said, I'm certainly not an expert and just thought I'd send some passing thoughts. You 100% should be losing weight on this program.

Come on over to the Round 2 thread if you need further support as we are very active over there.
  • One more thing. You should be drinking about half your body weight in ounces of water per day. Thus, shoot for drinking a gallon (128 oz) per day. I try to drink a 20 oz glass of water along with each one of my meals, plus I drink all day long. You pee A LOT, but it seriously makes all the difference in the world!
  • Hi clarissairene!

I'm sorry you are struggling but I think the weight should start to come off. Stick with it. Like TwinCa, I am not an expert but just by looking at your food, I would take another look at the calories from avocados. They generally have about 350-450 calories per avocado depending up the size so if you are eating 1/2, its probably more in the 180-225 range rather than the 25 you have listed. I also think perhaps upping the veggies and reducing the extras like feta cheese and cool whip will help. I like to saute red peppers, a little onion, mushroom, and spinach and pour the smallest amount of good quality balsamic vinegar over them. We eat that combination of veggies nearly every night. Another thing to check for is sodium. If you are eating deli chicken or turkey, it likely has a lot of sodium which is making you hold on to fluids especially if you aren't drinking enough water.

Definitely, come over to the Medifast round 2 thread! Everyone is great and we would just love to have you join us.

    Stay the course!

  • I agree with the comments. I also noticed that the 1/2 avocado is listed as only 2g of fat and it should be 10g.

Just follow the guide and research the nutritional info to make sure it is auto-filling in correctly.
  • I agree with the comments above. A little tweaking your amounts and you should start seeing losses! Good luck!
  • TwinCA and Sheila!
Thank you thank you thank you! For taking the time to post. So I read it that exact day and made some changes. you were absolutely correct. I was not couting all my condiments and the fat serving was off. I have since then picked the right avocado listing and only eat that ocassionaly and only 1.5 ounces lol! Another huge mistake I noticed I made weeks 1 and 2..... I thought I was eating 97% lean turkey and beef. so to me that read it was in the leaner column and I COULD have a fat. I was soooo wrong... or dyslexic ! The turkey and meat were actually 93% lean and 7 % fat free .... oh boy, I really read that wrong so I shouldn't even be eating a healthy fat with that!!!! ugh.

So now ..... Day 21. I am down a total of 6 pounds. Still not impressive but I am off my medications for heartburn and stomach issues. I feel GREAT. My stomach looks only 6 months pregnant instead of 9 months LOL because bloat is gone. I have not binged eaten in 21 days which is a HUGE accomplishment in itself. I LOVE the food. I feel inches coming off and will measure myself today.

Not going to lie though...... I really thought this lifestyle I would see 4-5 pounds a week! I see so many women loosing so much! I think my metabolism is off. And I wonder...... instead of paying all this money cant I do this on my own with my own food and still loose a pound a week. I am afraid to try though. Because this structure that Medifast brings to my life is much needed and way over due. So I will keep on going..... hoping to see results next month.

Thank you so much again for taking time to point all that out! I couldn't reply that day but wanted to make sure I did later!

May I also add you may want to try to limit the bars to maybe 1 per day and see if that helps as well.
  • Yay! Keep going Clarissairene! I think you maybe begin to see a little more fall off. Drink lots of water. I always lose more when I drink a TON of water. This week hasn't been nearly as good for me on the water front and I've only lost 1lb. Crud! I know its my fault for being distracted. But still, a loss is a loss and on we go!

    Stay the course!
