introduction

Today marks day 5 on Medifast. I signed up through a local center. I know that's not the popular option, but I think I'll be more accountable that way.

I lost 18 pounds in five months doing Weight Watchers. My weight loss kind of slowed down, and I was having a hard time making myself choose the right foods. What happened was I ended up spending a bunch of my points of fast food every day.

I decided I needed something more strict and easy. I like that most of the time I don't have to figure out what to eat. Also having things completely off-limits helps me stay on track. Hopefully it'll help me break my fast-food/fat/salt/sugar dependence.

I went ahead and went to my Saturday WW meeting after having been on MF for two days. I was down four pounds for the WW week. Ha! That makes -22 lbs total according to WW.

My main worry about the MF program is having my milk supply dry up. I'm still nursing my 10 1/2 month old son and was hoping to make it the full year or beyond. I decided that I'm going with the 5 and 1 plan instead of the nursing mothers and hope for the best. It's a risk I decided I'm willing to take at this point in time. I need to get down to a healthy weight for my sake and my son's.

I'm a little horrified at how my belly looks after a mere 22 pounds and a baby...like an empty sack. There's so much more fat to lose in my belly area. I know it's not going to be pretty when it's all said and done. It's sad that I ruined my body like this.
