I could cry ... please help.
I am so utterly frustrated. First, I wanted to try medifast. My soy allergy made that not possible. Then, I wanted to try nutrisystem. Turns out they put soy in a lot of their meals and are too disorganized for me to be able to know what's what. Then I saw that New Lifestyle Diet is JUST like medifast, except their shakes are based on milk-protein instead of soy protein. I think, yeah, I'm set and head over to order. Turns out their bars are still based on soy. Argh.
They only require on bar per day, so I could try to substitute with something comparable ... any suggestions on soy-free bars with lots of nutrients, 150 calories, 10g protein and 20g carbs? Would my subbing the bars for another one (or just food that fits the profile) ruin the benefits of the diet and I might as well not bother? (I would also be annoyed to have to pay for the bars even though I won't use them - I'll have to find out if I can leave 'em out of the order). Anyway, I'm hoping for advice and support here. I'm so frustrated. I'm eager to get on a meal replacement/ meal delivery diet and I just can't seem to find a soy-free one (or one that will let me customize the rest of my many food allergies out). And yet I am SICK of calorie counting with zero results. I'm literally crying I'm so frustrated!!! :( |
I'm so sorry that you are having a difficult time finding a program that is right for you.
I do Medifast so obviously I do not have a soy sensitivity and I am not familiar with the program that you are on. You may want to try posting your question on General Diet Support forum. There is a lot of expertise on bars and their ingredients on this site. Just a thought. I have a friend who has a soy allergy and some other sensitivities that make meal replacement difficult.. She does BistroMD. They have worked with her on her sensitivities and she was able to pull a plan together that way. It's kind of expensive but the food is great and from what I hear you can't beat the customer support. Good Luck! |
Have you tried calorie counting? I think it´s the easiest way to do it, just determine how many calories you need to eat daily to loose (mmm that can be a little hard sometimes, but manageable) and you can eat anything within the range (ok, don´t take it literally...) but if you´re having trouble getting a plan that works with your allergies maybe you can try calorie counting, or at least start with it till you find one soy free...

I just realized this is the "diet meal delivery forum".. sorry if I wasn´t supposed to post here..

Djay, I'll go take a second look at BistroMD ... they sounded great, but we're on a really tight budget right now. I've had trouble with meal deliveries because if it's not a soy issue, then it's one of my many other food allergies (apples, cherries, the list goes on and on). Oh, and to complicate things, I'm a vegetarian.
chileanchick - calorie-counting is definitely the healthiest way to go and it's what I've been doing for a year now, unsuccessfully. Part of the lack of success is my own failures, but I've gone for months doing it right and exercising and just don't lose. Then I get frustrated and pessimistic and fall off the wagon. I've managed to not gain any weight at all for 2 years but can't seem to get it off the healthier way (calorie-counting) and I'm ready to do something more externally structured. |
BistroMD is definitely a good choice. If your on a tight budget, try emailing them to see if they can work you out any kind of trial deal. ;-)

Best Of Luck to you!
