Good evening ladies! Been really busy over here.
Jen, I am beside myself with giddy for your date! OMG I love it! You are too cute with your posts. I love the crock pot idea, i have no idea how warm it is in your neck of the woods, so here is my two cents for hot weather meal. SALAD! add some shrimp (sauteed for a few minutes in olive oil) and then add some croutons, some crumbled cheese, and red onion. Or some grilled chicken breast, craisins, feta, pecans and chinese noodles. You dont have to cook any of it! and it looks simple and elegant. You wont go off program. Salads are a great summer impressor. Oh, and beans, red, black garbanzo, all good to throw in! Look up some stuff on-line, the combinations are endless and you dont have to cook anything!
Ok, so I have a little question... I am down to 203.5 today, (YAY) but, I really dont see a diffrence in my clothes fitting or the tape mesurer... is it too soon? Im down by 16 pounds, I just thought I'd see more.?,
Anyways, I Feel lighter and leaner!
I love catching up with all the posts, you girls really do inspire and support. Thanks for being such angles!
Miriam, you did a post a little back that was just wonderful, it wanst a reply to me but it sure did help, thanks.
Nikki, you little rock-n-roll hootchie coo! No boats? No parties? C'mon! I love to see what adventure you had over the weekend!
My dh and I are hitting our 7th wedding anniversary in a week. What do you all think?... Sushi (Yum, and not bad at all for calories, carbs and such thanks to sushifaq.com) or Chilis (he looooooves the ribs, I would really only get one choice but its my fav, salmon, nutrition facts are really good on this one too) I dunno, Im torn between the two! Help
Be good sweeties and be OP!
Oh, PS, Jana... They were Benedryling your daughter!!! is this what Im seeing! OMG, I am so sorry for you to go through that, Thank God its over and you got a new place to place your little lamb. Oh, I was crazy when I read that! and she will start to pick up your good habits as long as you reinforce them... ie. "Oh, I just love to eat my veggies, I love to eat healthy it makes me feel good How about you?" Give a reason for why its good and tell her that you like to be healthy and you love her to be healthy... you know, basic overkill with the explanations with 3 and1/2 year olds. Oh, I could go on of course... LOL Love to all, Missy

missygith 07-27-2008 12:50 AM

Oh, and canned manderine oranges with walnuts and blue cheese on top of spinach and romaine! Yummmmm

peacefuljoy27 07-27-2008 01:00 AM

Hello all. Today was my 10th day on Medifast. And, I know this was a big no-no, but I didn't weigh myself before I started. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. My husband and I had been pigging out for weeks. He talked me into waiting to start the program until after a beach wedding we were attending. Turns out, the wedding food wasn't anything special and wasn't worth it at all. And, in the mean time, we just totally went nuts and I probably gained 8 pounds within a month's time. I weighed myself two days ago, and at least now I have a point of reference.

So far I LOVE this program. I soooooo wish I had done it years ago. It's so easy to follow. I really like the food. I've begun to try some of the recipes I've found online. But even without those, there is a lot of variety to keep me from getting bored. It's so easy to just grab four or five packets of food in the morning before I go to work. I haven't been hungry since the first two or three days. I just pray that God will give me the strength and patience to
persevere and continue with the program until I reach my goal. I have a feeling that the pounds are going to come off slowly.

Thanks for letting me ramble!

Suzy

:welcome:
Welcome peaceful! Looks like we started about the same time! You are way ahead of me on the weight loss though! Good luck to you!

Congratulations to you and your husband on the big 7 years Missy! I would choose the salmon, just because I love salmon...but that is just me. Either one can be done on plan...Sushi may be more of a romantic atmosphere...and make sure you order Tuna! Big aphrodesiac!!!

Operator- Good for you on the smoking!!!! I was told that all the nicotine is gone from your body after 3 days...so the physical withdrwal is over! You still have the mental battle to fight...but that gets easier every day...and you don't want to have to start over...so hang in there! Besides...smoking after 3 days will not be pleasurable...just make you dizzy and make your breathe/hair/clothes/house smell. Isn't it wonderful to not have to deal with nasty ashtrays anymore? And my personal favorite...not get that nasty buildup on the car windshield that makes it so hard to see at night!

Jen, I really enjoy reading about your budding romance! I feel your pain on the cooking issue! I'm not a cook either. Just have a couple of dishes that I specialize in...and of course learned to make an awsome breakfast ;) !!!

Well...I'm still stuck here on my plateau! Very frustrating...but my body has to give up the pounds eventually. I refuse to cheat and give it an excuse for this rebellion. Geez! and I thought my kids were stubborn!

ROMANS828 07-28-2008 07:01 AM

Hello Beauties!

Jen...I cannot wait to hear the details. I live vicariosly through you! I love the crock pot idea. I do it myself. not much of a cook either, but with growing boys I am learning. The lipton onion soup recipes are all good!

djay....I admire your determination and strength. Keep it up!

peaceful....been there on the weighing thing! My dh says I live in a fantasy world. if I don's see it (ie the scale or the checkbook balance) I can pretend it isn't as bad as it is. I love your enthusiasm. I have started keeping a prayer journal. God promises use prosperity and anything we ask for! He WILL honor our obedience to His word! Stay strong in HIM!

operator...congrats on the successes. You are one tough cookie!

missy...not sure what to tell you on the measurements. I have never used a tape measure. YOur weight loss is incredible. You GO Girl!

Well, I am down 3 pounds this week for a total of 13 in 3 weeks! Felling better. 4 weeks of food on its way. at least 5 more weeks of medifast commitment! I am starting WATP today. Lord be with me!

love to all

mirihawk 07-28-2008 08:12 AM

I didn't have an OP weekend. I wonder why I am so resistant at times? I don't know, but I thought I would show up here and say, I begin again... sigh.

Thanks for being here!

Hello all glad everyone had a good weekend! I got an urge to paint so I went and got some and am redoing the living room and kitchen today. Just taking a break while some of it dries. Wonder how many calories painting burns?
I have another weigh in at Duke on Wed. We will see then how my first 2 weeks only doing 2 shakes have worked out.

Nikki2476 07-28-2008 04:22 PM

Hello ladies!!!!

So weighed in today at 205!!!, that makes 11 pounds in this first month. I really could have been better, but it is so hard to be OP on the weekends in the summer.

Missy--you are so great. I laugh almost everytime I read your posts. I would definitely go for the sushi..I love it..yummy... spicy tuna roll....congrats on the weight loss and the 7 year anniversary!!!!!!!!

So a friend of mine came in to town on Sat and we went to a arena football game. I love football but thought that this would be kind of ?????? but we had a really good time. This next weekend I am on call at the hospital, so my butt will be at home!!!! (unless I can get someone to cover for me and then I'm going boating..hehe)

All y'all that can go to different places and stay OP, I am in awe of. Holy moly it is hard. But I am going to Chicago for a Cubs game in three weeks and would really like to be under 200 lbs by then. I got up at 5 am this morning and worked out and have been back OP this morning. So that is a new short term goal I am making for myself--3 weeks to lose 5 pounds....maybe I should just take my call this weekend.

Miri--I feeling your pain about the not being OP for the weekend...keep your head up. we can do this

Djay--I have a vacation in Feb also.......all of this will sure be worth it when we are strutting our stuff in swim suits this winter...

Romans---congrats--13 lbs in 3 weeks is awesome....way to go

Welcome peaceful....glad you could join us

Jen--easy to just throw some potatoes in the oven and put a few steaks on the grill, with a nice bottle of wine and a great salad...very man food

Hope everyone is having a good day

Hello friends. I just love checking in and hearing how everyone is doing. I'm so happy for all of those of you doing well and pulling for those of you who are struggling.

Saturday I was so nervous that I barely ate the entire day. Sunday I ended up making lasagna (yes, so NOT on plan, but it is one of the only things I can cook and he loves italian), so I just ate dinner with him, nothing else the rest of the day. So, all told, in 2 days, I ate probably 1200 calories. Today? Can we say binge? Not good at all...I didn't even look at Medifast, just ate totally off plan all day.

I'm assuming my diet crash is stress related, because even good stress sends me spiraling.

The date, by the way, was perfect. Really, it could not have gotten any better and I am completely enamored. I'll see him again this Friday and then I go on vacation for a month and won't see him for about a month.

Thanks to everyone for all the great ideas. In fact, they were such great ideas that I am going to look into finding a few recipes that look "doable" and a little more diet friendly than lasagna!

Take care!

missygith 07-29-2008 01:45 AM

OMG! Jen!!!!! How absolutly adorable! I am so excited for your new :val2:lovestuff, BTW, you HAF to invite us to the wedding! I cant wait! you are too cute with the nervousness, I know you said you thought that you should be beyond it at your age, but love is love! At any age, maturity, experience... it Rocks! Where are you going for a whole month?
Hey Nikki, 11 pounds? You smoked it! You lost a great amount of wieght and you got to party! LOL Thats how you do it!:p
Gatorgrl... cant wait to hear the results!
Miriam, you are so sweet... You can get through this,(kick your stubborn little inner saboture in the can) However long it takes you know we'll be here for you all the way! Anymore fun birthday month activities?
***Wow, lots to say today, eh? :write:...almost done
Romans, I love your positive reminders. and 13 pounds?! SWEET:carrot:
Djay, good for you! I LOVE how you refuse to let this stop you or cheat! Your the hardest working lady! ;)your perserverance will pay off! Really, you know it will! The body cant resist forever, it has to cede to the laws of nature!
:?:We just got some funky news today, we took our ds#1 to get allergy tested because he keeps getting hives at every turn. We found out he is allergic to everything! All different degrees of severity of course, but the Dr. said he had never seen one kid have all the tests react the way his did. Everything but mold and shellfish, (Huh?):?: All tree and grass pollens, milk, soy, eggs, cat, dog, all fish... all fish except canned tuna. Great. I cant believe that a little boy who loves fish cant eat it! (Why couldnt it have been mcnuggets or mac and cheese he's allergic to) I could easily eat seafood everyday for the rest of my life and be in Heaven! NO FISH! We had to get 2 epi-pens! ARG! Sorry I ranted, Im just so bummed. Only canned tuna?... bummer. So definatly DH and I will be going out for seafood on the anniversary dinner. He can still have fish-less sushi and shellfish at least. One of his favorites is this marinated baby octopus, its soaked with sesame oil and chili sauce, yumm! Squid and Octopus seem to be ok too. :pYay, at least its not all seafood! PTL!
Ok, ok, I'll stop now... Thanks ladies for letting me rant and roll
Be good, be OP, be fabulous! Love, Missy

missygith 07-29-2008 01:49 AM

Speaking of "fabulous"...Miriam, check out this poem, it inspires me beyond mesure http://www.davidpbrown.co.uk/nota-be...illiamson.html
Dont worry, its not one of those long ones;) Actually, everyone can check this out, its a great mantra.

ROMANS828 07-29-2008 04:44 AM

so yesterday I really wanted to eat my way out of frustration. My ds#2 (10 mo) has an ear infection and very high fever. he was miserable all day. because I was giving him so much attention, my ds#1 was terribly behaved and very jealous. he actually threw a toy and hit the baby in the eye. the baby now has a black eye on top of his ear infection, fever, cough, congestion, etc. so.....my natural stress-reliever of pizza and brownies was calling my name. I DID NOT ANSWER! I prayed and read the Word. Of course I was also not too nice to my DH. Hey, the frustration has to come out somehow!

Missy....I was one of those kids allergic to everything. He will out grow it most likely. Prayers for him!

miri....stay steadfast. I think the biggest accomplishment is not staying op, but getting back on when we have fallen off!

Jen....I am so happy for you. enjoy this time! you will always remember it. oh, anything Italian is my fav. I grew up in a sicillain house when sauce was always simmering and we never ran out of hot italian bread. better stop talking about it or I'll be dreaming of ziti and meatballs!

Nikki...congrats on the loss! can you feel it?

Be strong Ladies!

Zeitgeist 07-29-2008 01:16 PM

Miriam, when I woke up this morning, I thought of you and your resistance to dieting. I was totally in anti-diet/rebellion mood yesterday and woke up today thinking, I've got to get my head back in gear.

So, I made my shakes for the day and have been a bit better today. By the way, I DESPISE the blueberry antioxidant shakes. Really, it is the most vile drink I have ever had. Maybe if I could make it slushier, it would taste better, but honest to pete, not even the chili had me considering throwing it out the window.

I'm so sorry to hear of the child woes. Really, you mothers amaze me. I can hardly keep my life together...I can't imagine the responsibility of others as well PLUS dieting. Nope. I can't imagine.

That poem, Missy, is wonderful. And very true.

I hope everyone is healthy and happy.

Gatorgrl 07-29-2008 03:46 PM

Great poem Missy, thanks for sharing:)

I have been starving all day. I don't know what is going on...I had my shake, I have had water, I had lunch and I am getting ready for shake 2 and then I will have dinner but I honestly could eat everything in the house...ugh!! I have no cravings for anything in particular just very hungry. I am trying to be good since I have a weigh in tomorrow, pray I can hold out:(

djay 07-30-2008 08:26 AM

Just have a minute before work...But had to tell someone! (I told my doggies...but they just wagged their tails and thought I was going to give them a treat!)

I think my 3 week plateau has finally broken! The scale hit a new low of 221 this morning. That is only 3 lbs for my first 13 days on Medifast...but at this point I'll take it! I had been within 1 lbs one way or the other of 223 for 3 weeks!

Have a beautiful summer day!

D
