Welcome!

Above,
We're supposed to exercise after week 3. I have a ways to go yet. When I start, I'm going to begin with 10 minutes and increase it every day by 1 minute until I hit 30. Are you losing inches? Are you still measuring everything? Do you log it in fit day or Medifast? Maybe you're not eating enough, or too much, or whatever. Definitely get moving.

Brook,
I can't help you with cravings - I don't have any yet. The chocolate pudding is SO GOOD!! I was able to get the eggs to taste good today, but not GOOD. I like the chilli and Chicken Noodle, but you gotta soak and spice them.

It's not looking good for your daughter joining you...
Peanut butter is not on plan. There are meatless options like Boca Burgers, eggs, and cheese, but not many. The whole point of any diet SHOULD be to begin changing your thinking and behaviors toward food. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems that eating a cheese log everyday until goal is unhealthy. I know a guy who lost about a hundred pounds eating popcorn and drinking beer. I wouldn't recommend it, but you gotta do what you gotta do...

Be well,

Where the heck is Meowee??

Ruthxxx 12-31-2007 07:13 AM

Meowee is in Toronto, aka The Big Smoke, visiting her brother's family.

Good morning all. I think I overdid it last night at dinner but the scale is down 2 pounds this morning. I nearly have an honest ticker!

I'm off to Ottawa this morning to pick up friend Mel so won't linger except to :welcome: the new MFers.

Yes, this thread is long. It's 14 pages for me, not 36. If it's 36 for you, you need to go into your profile and change the options. I'll be back to paste in the instructions but right now my blood sugar is too low and I need to eat.

Ruthxxx 12-31-2007 07:35 AM

To change the number of posts per page:
1. Go to User CP (in the purple bar top left)
2. Select "Change Options"
3. Scroll down until you get to "Number of Posts to Show Per Page"
4. Change it from the system default to 40 posts
5. Be sure to save the change.

That should fix things.

Hi all!
LAST day on this particular thread! Don't forget to move to the Jump into January thread on the 1st!!! Thanks Ms Ruthie for setting up a new thread. Over 500 posts! Who'd have thought????
Ms Above -- there is an interesting paradox with respect to exercise! The MORE you exercise, the LONGER it may take to lose the weight! The MF theory is that if you exercise MORE than 45 minutes per day, your body will essentially go into "starvation mode" and hang onto every calorie, because you are taxing your system severely. Now, you won't stay at that weight FOREVER, but it MAY take you longer to lose than if you just moderately exercised (45minutes or less) and stayed on plan. Having said that, a 30minute walk each day would certainly help you healthwise, and exercise, while not KEY for weight LOSS, IS KEY for weight loss MAINTENANCE. So it isn't a bad idea to get that routine going now!
As for slow losers, well, allow myself to introduce.....myself....! Some of us are turtles and others are hares. I am quite turtlish, myself, and I understand your pain about reading other posts on other forums -- you know the ones -- "I just stepped on the scales and lost ANOTHER 6 lbs! How easy is THIS!", when I have never experienced such success!
All I can say is that if you set a goal, a better goal would be to be 100% on plan for a period of time, rather than a numbers-based goal that is tied to time. You WILL lose weight when you lose it, and other than doing the right things, there isn't any way to speed things up. Takes a bit of getting used to, and frustration along the way, but if you work hard to accept this concept, you'll be miles ahead of the game!
Ms Brook! There is a vegetarian plan to MF, BUT you need to know that it does involve "fake meat" or soy and eggs. If you go to the official MF site (www.medifast1.com), you can find all the info about the vegetarian plan. And, like Ms Michelle says, PB and nuts aren't on plan. Unfortunately. Anyways, you will be able to make a better decision with more official and specific info!
To everyone else --
Happy New Years Eve!
Talk to you all next year!
Maya

Brookelizabeth,

I am a vegetarian and have been on medifast for 6 weeks now and I also don't drink milk, eat eggs. I do however eat boca burgers and occasionally use cheese (I've never been able to let cheese go) and have been trying to choke down tofu every now and then. My mom has great recipes for tofu and she can make it taste so good but I have never acquired that talent.

As for fruit, I love fruit! I enjoy making smoothies in the morning packed with berries but to be honest I haven't had any cravings for anything. Not even chocolate and that in itself is amazing to me. The only thing I can attribute it to is eating every two to three hours.

Just one day till the Jump into January! I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years Eve.

Jen

Good morning all,

I'm just popping in to say I'm still here and reading and will be back to join you all tomorrow. I tried to get back on last week but there was too much going on with the MIL visit (she's gone now - yippee - very nice person but drives me batty), the girls, and the holiday food fest in general. I won't go into it but that Nutella story sounded very good. ;-) So, tomorrow it is - I really think things will be easier when I get back to work on Wednesday. There is something about being on a schedule, isn't there?

Still no results on the engineering exam. I'm going to run by the office this afternoon to see if they've come. I have mixed feelings there but I'm prepared either way. If I didn't pass I'll be studying a lot until the retake in April and hopefully won't gain 10 lbs like I did in the fall.

Happy New Year!

Maria

Our thoughts are with you, Ms Maria!
And thanks, Ms Jen for the vegetarian info!
Later, all

Hi Everyone,
I have been a lurker for quite a while and decided to take the plunge and start MF. Today is day 1 for me and so far, so good. I've learned so much from you already, but I'm sure I have a long way to go.

Happy New Year,
Doreen:)

bellabella 12-31-2007 10:28 AM

Maya, thanks for the Nutella pictures, I can't decide if I want to avoid Europe now or use that as my reward for reaching my goal.. oh well, a girl can dream!

Brookelizabeth, I'm also a vegetarian and I just use the shakes and Bocca burgers for the lean and green. There is a vegan "cheese" that is made of soy and is only 35 calories per slice. It's in the organic/health food section of my grocery store.

Good luck to everyone tonight!! Last tough holiday of the season, yeah!! I've decided to go to a New Years Eve party, hope I stay strong. Lost a pound since yesterday, don't want to gain it back so I think I will be okay.

Happy New Year everyone!

brookelizabeth 12-31-2007 11:24 AM

Thanks for the veggie advice, I'll talk to her and see what we can do. She likes tofu and we can certainly make veggie/tofu stir fry.

My first name was taken so I gave my first and middle... my name is
Brooke. Maybe I should have put a space, only my mom calls me by my full name and only when I was in trouble when young! Can I change my username??

I am going to a greek restaurant tonight. I don't care for most alcohol so that is easy to avoid.

Can I have Diet Coke on MF? I drink water but am addicted to Diet Coke.

Thanks!

Hey all! I'm still here, lol..
that 4th day was rough for me but the 5th was worse, lol.. I had some stomach bug and was down and out ALL day yesterday, couldn't even eat until around 1pm and I stuck with the chicken noodle soup, lol.. so guess that was on plan, lol.
but anyway, here is day 6 and all is well again.. back to my bars, shakes etc, feeling optimistic again. I wanted to just quit sooo bad after that day of binging but I'm taking it as a bad day and picking up where I left off.. I won't let this plan defeat me quite yet, lol.. spring is WAYYYY too close, lol..
anyway, I'm posting on my break, I'm working today, but I'll be off tomorrow through thurs so you'll see more of me again!
welcome to all the new ones!!! and to all the ones who have been here, sorry I don't have time to address each of you but keeping fighting the good fight and hang in there!! :) :)

Hello Everyone!

I had to come in to work for a half day today. :dizzy: Unfortunately, my week off wasn't as leisurely as I had planned so, I haven't had a chance to read all the post yet and catch up with everyone just yet... but I will between tonight and tomorow night!

Also wanted to let you all know I'm now down an additional 5 lbs and I have gone from a size 22 to 14 for jeans, pants/slacks and a 12 in some dresses(expecially my winter knits)! I Love this program. :carrot:

I did take a peek at the new thread for 2008. That is so Awesome! We're ready!

Happy and Safe New Year to Everyone! 2008 is our year!!!:joker:

Talk to you all later!

brookelizabeth 12-31-2007 01:38 PM

I am getting ready to order! I hope you don't mind, I am so excited so put this question on the new thread too!

Few opinions please...

the oatmeal, any flavors you do like better than others? Any you don't like?

The chips and crackers, are they in place of a meal?

I read that Genie Francis mixes coffee into her vanilla shake. Anyone try this? I normally would never order vanilla but this sounds like it might be good.

How many puddings should I get? Do you have it every day?

The hot drinks, do you order them?

Lastly, any problems with auto ship??

Thanks!!!

michelle127 12-31-2007 02:25 PM

Hey everyone!

Okay, okay, I'm not a vegetarian....I can't imagine eating such few choices for so long! :ziplip:

Brooke,
ORDER the pudding!! YUM!! The cocoa and stuff are located under hot drinks I think. The chips are "snacks," so you can use them with the soups or chilli, but you can't eat them on the same day as a bar (carbs). The oatmeals are not my favorite, but I threw out the peach - could NOT eat that. The apple & cinnamon and maple & bs aren't so bad. Make sure you add extra water, splenda, and extract (or cinnamon). And yes, you can have diet coke. I always treat myself with one after I drink all my water.

Welcome all newbies!!

mz - WOW!! Excellent progress!
mkb - I can't wait to hear about your test!

Hope everyone is well,
