Swiss Steak
I really just always wing this recipe but for text Im trying to put it down. LOL 4-6 cube steaks, or round steak boneless 1 large yellow onion 4-5 stalks celery more or less depending on your likes 2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms low sodium tomato sauce I usually use 3-4 small cans seasonings : I use morton lite salt, garlic, pepper, sometimes italian seasoning I cook this one of two ways. I always brown the meat in a fry pan first seasoning as I go. I then set aside. I put the sliced mushrooms, onion, and celery (diced) into the fry pan and let it soften and get the drippings. (i don't use any oil) Then I add the tomato sauce over the veggies and let it simmer a while. If I am gonna leave on the stove top I put the meat back in put the lid on and let it simmer for a good two hours. If I do it in the crockpot. I brown the meat, soften the veggies and put the tomato sauce in the fry pan and then transfer all to the crockpot and let it simmer 6-8 hours on low or 4 hours on high. I either serve this with noodles or potatoes. I have also done this with chicken breast kind of like a chicken parmasean thing. Is that clear as mud? LOL You can ask me to clarify anything. |
